85 years of the Air Training Corps! Thank you to all those past and current members who have helped make it what it is today. Follow us in this special year to see our anniversary events

Today marks the 85th Anniversary of the formation of the Air Training Corps.

Created out of the Air Defence Cadet Corps, the ATC was initially formed in the second world war for teenage boys to learn skills that supplied better-trained and experienced RAF recruits, many becoming aircrew. Now the ATC is open to young men and women, with a focus on creating good citizens and leaders for all walks of life.

The subjects covered have changed a lot in 85 years, morse code has gone and been replaced with cyber; but many still stay the same especially around flying and gliding.

If you were a cadet in Surrey Wing, or are a current cadet or volunteer - please share your greatest memories of being a cadet.

Looking back on Remembrance Sunday, we're reminded of the importance of community and remembrance. Thanks to Sutton Sea Cadets and our Civilian Welfare Committee for their hard work in making the event safe and a success. We appreciate everyone who joined us for the service held to honour the fallen. We will always remember them. We also said a a fond farewell to our long serving senior cadet, Cadet Warrant Officer Antany. Thank you CWO, you’ve been great! We look forward to seeing you again soon. Photos by .v.photography

Last night, cadets and staff from 350 Squadron, 2419 Sqn, 323 Squadron and Royal Russell School CCF took part in the Last Post ceremony at The Menin Gate, Ypres, Belgium. The ceremony is the final salute to the fallen from the First World War and takes place at 8pm, every day and has done so since 1928. Our ceremony was number 33783! The trip organised by 350 Sqn was an opportunity to thank cadets and staff from the aforementioned units for their support and for going above and beyond in our ventures. This trip wouldn’t have been possible without the kind support from our Civilian Welfare Committee - thank you!

Recently, cadets from 350 Squadron took part in the Surrey Air Cadets Drill Competition and finished as overall Runners Up! This is a fantastic result for us, particularly as half of the team had not taken part before. In the lead up to the competition the team worked tirelessly on drill, uniform and teamwork. A special thank you goes to not only the cadets but the supporting staff and NCO IC, CWO Clark who places Runner Up in the individual competition. Well done everyone, the foundations are laid, bring on next year!
