Welcome to Watu wa Maana Street Children’s Rehab and Reintegration Centre. The UK Grassroots team visited on Saturday and joined in life with the children. They did the annual re-enrolling of each of them for sponsorship. Then they joined together in a celebration meal of roast goat - one that they had reared but had become aggressive! Sponsorship of children in Watu wa Maana is full board and includes a contribution to education, so is £20 per month. https://grassroots.org.uk/kenya/

Good Neighbours Church is not just the centre of the Grassroots Kenya child sponsorship programme, is a safe place for the children and community. After all the work of sponsorship interviews, some of the children hung around to play. Balloons and bubbles.

Grassroots sponsored children gathered in Good Neighbours Church (Theta, on the Northern edge of Nairobi) for the annual re-enrolment. The UK team distributed knitted hats (made by keen knitters in Emsworth Baptist) to those who wanted them. The young people sat and drew pictures or wrote letters for their sponsors. https://grassroots.org.uk/sponsor-a-child-today/

Day one of the Grassroots team
In Kenya was about getting over jet lag and ready for meeting the sponsored children. Jeri and Alison started sorting 250 wooden hats made by the big knits in their church. Kenyans love a Wooly hat! And then George (leader of Good Neighbours) took them to the elephant rescue centre in the national park. It has been a bit wet in Nairobi… so very muddy for the elephants! ‼️

Grassroots team is in India this week meeting all the sponsored children in the Chennai project run by SKM church. So wonderful to meet each family, hear how they are getting on and pray with them. As always there is lots of noise when 300 children turn up for the after school club and meal. https://grassroots.org.uk/india/
