The devastated parents of a student who died after taking drugs are warning other young people of the extreme dangers of taking illegal substances.

Nathan Pavlovic was just 21 when he became unwell after taking Class A M**A during a gathering in Newcastle, in October 2020.

Nathan – who had his whole future ahead of him and had just begun the third year of a forensic computing degree – sadly died hours later.

🗣️ “We can’t emphasise enough how much of a risk you are putting yourself at by taking these substances,” said his mum Beth.

“Nathan was destined for a bright future and he had so much to look forward to in his life. All of that has been taken away from him and us.”

His dad Alex said: “If what we are saying even makes one person think again and prevents them from being unwell or worse than that, then it’s a relief to us that another family or friends won’t have to go through what we’re going through."

We launched an investigation into Nathan's death and found that Kasam Ali had sold the drugs to George Harle, who then shared them with Nathan.

⚖️ Both men pleaded guilty to drugs offences and were sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court in July.
