Our second Creative Pathways showcase

Held at Diego's Joint, it brought together artwork developed through our Creative Pathways art group and celebrated creativity as a way to build confidence, connection and belonging.

From bold mandala pieces to deeply personal portrait work, each artwork reflects time, care and personal growth. These sessions are about more than making art. They create space for people to be seen, to share their stories, and to feel part of a supportive community. Seeing the room full and the conversations flowing reminded us why this programme matters.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, supported the artists, and helped make the night feel so welcoming. And thank you to the artists for trusting us with your work and your journeys.

As always, if you have books, educational resources, art materials or clothes you’d like to donate for our beneficiaries, you can drop them off at Diego’s Joint.

Such wonderful, supportive words from our visiting artist Steve:

I've just been along to see the exhibition by the lovely art group run by . The exhibition is at , and seeing these artworks in the flesh is amazing!

I've taught a workshop to the group a little while back, but the talent of this group is amazing! The exhibition is only on for the rest of the day, so if you're in Sunderland, you can get yourself along and show your support. It's only a five minute walk from Sunderland Metro, so if you fancy a break from shopping, and fancy getting yourself a drink and a bit of culture, and get yourself along!

Our December Art Exhibition is almost here.

Join us at Diego's Joint on Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd as our Creative Pathways artists share the work they have been developing over the past few months.

If you have been following their journey, you know how much time, effort and growth has gone into every piece. Your support helps create more opportunities for local artists to learn, build confidence and showcase their work.

More photos from our first showcase last month. Our next one is coming up at Diego’s Joint on the 20/21 December. This will be our second gathering where our artists can share their work and connect with the community.

Everyone is welcome to come along, meet the artists, and enjoy the work they’ve created over the past year. If you enjoyed the first showcase or couldn’t make it last time, this is a lovely chance to drop in and show your support.

More generous donations arrived today from Troubador Publishing for our beneficiaries. We are really grateful for their ongoing support and for believing in the work we do.

A huge thank you also to Big Yellow Self Storage for helping us with the space we need to keep saving and redistributing resources like these. Without that support we simply could not manage the volume of donations that come through.

Troubadour, Big Yellow and Sunderland Literacy Aid are a great example of how partnership working can make a real difference for the people we support.

Twelve months of creating together. Twelve months of showing up in a space where judgment never had a place, because this journey has been about artists finding their voice, building confidence, trying new things, and having the freedom to come and go as they needed.

Creative Pathways grew into a small community of people who supported each other through the good days and the tough ones, and this final showcase at Pop Recs brought that journey to life. Family, friends and visitors filled the room to celebrate everything the group achieved.

A huge thank you to Diego’s Joint for giving us access to a studio space week after week. Without that support and trust, none of this would have been possible.

This year of Creative Pathways has also been made possible through the support of the National Lottery Community Fund and we’re incredibly grateful for their backing.

Here’s to the artists who showed up, created, experimented and kept going. Here’s to many more safe spaces where people can grow at their own pace.

You’re all invited to our second showcase at Diego’s Joint on the weekend of 20/21 of December.
