Heritage and Connection in Care Settings
We partnered with Sunderland College students and the Sunderland Echo Retro section to deliver a Reminiscence Project in local care homes.
Using historic images of Sunderland kindly provided by Chris Cordner, the project encouraged older residents to reflect on the past, share stories, and connect through memories.
Lead volunteer Lesley , together with students Carly, Grace and Ekeoma, played a hands-on role in developing the sessions. Their placement included sourcing and curating vintage prints, supporting session planning, and gaining valuable experience linked to their future careers.
Itβs been a warm and thoughtful collaboration between generations, with creativity and care at its heart.
A huge thank you to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland College and the brilliant students who helped bring this project to life.
If you have any old local prints or small objects that could help residents of care homes in Sunderland reminisce, please get in touch. Weβd love to give them a new purpose.
We also welcome donations of books, tech equipment, art, or educational resources for our beneficiaries. Every little helps.
If you're a local company interested in sponsoring / supporting our work, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch and weβll take it from there.
