Residents of Okeford Fitzpaine may have seen the article in the Fippenny News about the proposed gas power plant at Rudge Hill Farm. For those wanting to know more, it will be discussed in the public session of tomorrow’s Okeford Fitzpaine Parish Council meeting.

Cllr Carole Jones is hosting a drop in tomorrow to discuss local planning issues, including the proposal for a synthetic fuel plant at Rudge Hill Farm. A local resident with lots of technical knowledge relating to the proposal will be present. A great opportunity to get more information, ask questions and make your concerns heard.

For those wishing to understand more about the LOCAL PLAN, its implications, and where homes, gipsy & traveller sites, and employment land are to be located. I am holding a drop-in event on Saturday 20th September at The Vale Family Hub between 10 and 12.30. Come along, grab a coffee, and I will be happy to talk through the current plans, and you can then complete your responses to the current proposals.

The Rudge Hill Farm Rivan gas power plant proposal is not just a few solar panels. It’s 25 ‘clusters’ of infrastructure each consisting of 2 x 40 foot shipping containers, 13m gas storage dome, water storage balloon, floodlighting etc. All surrounded by roads and fencing. So the idyllic, quintessentially Dorset scene we are all used to with cattle grazing peacefully and plentiful wildlife could soon be replaced with something resembling the second and third photos. We wonder how these local residents will feel about having their fields covered in concrete, containers and solar panels if the Rudge Hill Farm proposal is allowed to go ahead. Along with many of the human residents in the area, the wildlife will struggle come to terms with the destruction of a much-loved landscape.
