Cotswold Climate Action Network (C-CAN) is a residents group dedicated to tackling the effects of climate change across our district by joining forces with Cotswold District Council (CDC) on specific projects. Anyone living in the Cotswolds (aged 16 and over) is welcome to join us as we work together on initiatives to lower energy bills, encourage climate-friendly consumer and travel choices and f

oster nature recovery. We hold regular meetings (currently every 8-weeks or so) that members can attend in-person or online; in between our core discussion group shares news, information and ideas. We also have a number of sub-groups which aim to make a positive contribution to specific climate and sustainability issues over whose outcome CDC has influence. Currently, our sub-groups include:

Retrofit, working directly with CDC to promote the installation of heat pumps, solar panels and insulation improvements in the region’s homes and workplaces
Public Transport, championing sustainable upgrades to services that reduce car dependence and traffic congestion in the Cotswolds
Active Travel, promoting safe cycling and walking routes across the region
Youth, a dedicated member area for 16-18 year olds with a DBS+ certified safeguarder

Other sub-groups are in development (focusing on Biodiversity and Nature Recovery, EVs and Community Energy, for example) to reflect members’ interests and concerns as we grow, so there will be plenty of opportunities to be involved. The climate crisis may seem overwhelming but we believe local people can make a difference by pulling together. If you agree and are keen to play a part in helping secure a more sustainable future for where we live (and we don’t mean just 👍 on social media posts!), then why not join us and see what we can achieve?

An evening of conversation with Jonathan Porritt on the climate crisis – happening here in Cirencester.

We’re delighted to invite you to a thoughtful and challenging evening with Jonathon Porritt, one of the UK’s most respected voices on climate and environmental justice, in conversation with local councillor and author Chloe Turner.

The discussion draws on Jonathon’s latest book, Love, Anger and Betrayal, which reflects on more than fifty years of environmental campaigning, the voices of younger generations, and the question of how we respond to the climate crisis with honesty, hope and purpose.

This isn’t a lecture. It’s a chance to listen, ask questions, and take part in a proper conversation about where we are now, what’s working, what isn’t, and how communities like ours can respond with meaningful action.

The event is organised by the youth group of the Cotswold Climate Action Network, bringing together young voices, lived experience, and decades of insight in one intergenerational discussion.

📍 Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester
🗓 Friday 27 February
⏰ 7.00–9.00pm (drinks from 6.30pm)

The evening includes a talk, open Q&A, and a book signing.
Tickets are £10, with free community access tickets available so that everyone who wants to come can do so.

Whether you’re deeply engaged with climate issues, still figuring out what you think, or simply curious to hear a thoughtful conversation close to home, you’ll be very welcome.
