We are on the search for a new volunteer for our Churchdown Aphasia Choir. Are you kind and patient with a people centred approach to providing support? You role will involve helping the music therapist deliver the session, offering friendship to the members and of course singing along as you show the slides the choir uses. Contact [email protected] for more information or give us a call on 01453 619 620. Alternate Monday afternoons from 13:45.

Volunteers don’t just support our work at ReConnect Gloucestershire, they help shape it and give it a heart.

Our volunteers bring lived experience of stroke or aphasia, volunteering insight and challenge to how we think, plan and deliver our work ensuring we remain 'fit for purpose'. It makes our work better, more inclusive and more grounded in real experience. This is our unique strength.

With 60 volunteers we wanted to say 'thank you'.

Your kindness, insight and passion has not gone unnoticed..........

🎉 We're delighted to share some exciting news: ReConnect has been named a FINALIST in the Best Project category at the Cirencester Community Awards 2026! 🏆

The Cirencester Community Awards, organised by Cirencester Radio in partnership with Cirencester Community Development Trust, celebrate the incredible charities, organisations, community groups and individuals who give so much to support this wonderful town. We are truly honoured to be recognised among them.

Having already been providing befriending support to stroke survivors in the area, we opened the Cirencester Stroke Support Group in October 2025 - a service that was so greatly needed in the area. Since launching, we have been proud to offer a welcoming space for stroke survivors and their families right here in the heart of our community.

This recognition belongs to every single person who has supported, volunteered, attended, and believed in what we're building. Thank you!

💜 This May, we are Making May Purple!

Stroke Awareness Month takes place every May to raise awareness of the devastating impact of stroke and to champion the support that survivors and carers so urgently need.

Stroke Association is calling on everyone to Make May Purple this year, and the participants of our Inpatient Art Group on Peakview Ward at the Vale Hospital answered the call beautifully! They made their creations in purple and did an absolutely amazing job. 🎨

Thank you to every one of them, to the brilliant ward staff, and to our wonderful Rebecca, group lead. Together, we can help more people affected by stroke. 💜
