This week marks Learning Disability Week, and this year's theme is "Do you see me?", a powerful reminder that people with a learning disability deserve to be seen, heard, and valued.

Here at Egret, inclusivity isn't just a word, it's one of our core values. We call it 'Togetherness', and it means creating a space where everyone feels they belong, regardless of background, disability, or anything else that makes them who they are.
This week, and every week, we're proud to stand by that.

This week, our teams across Egret have come together for two days of first aid training, and we wanted to share a glimpse of day one in action.

From CPR to abdominal thrusts, our staff are working through a comprehensive programme designed to make sure that if a medical emergency ever arises, we are ready to respond quickly and confidently. Knowing that every member of our team is equipped with these skills is something we take seriously.

First aid training is just one part of how we make sure our homes are safe, supported environments where children and young people can thrive.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we have put on workshops to encourage conversations around mental wellbeing. Today, our residents came together for a gardening workshop and a coffee morning, emphasising how connection, fresh air, and a little time with nature can go a long way.

Did you know? One of the largest studies on gardens and gardening, funded by Innovate UK and the National Institute for Health Research, found that people who spent time in the garden report better physical and mental health levels than those who do not. (Source: UKRI, UK Research and Innovation)

At Egret Homes, we believe that mental wellbeing is nurtured through the small, everyday moments. Whether that is getting your hands in the soil, sharing a coffee with a friend, or simply taking a breath of fresh air together.
