✨📚 Providing books for children across Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Moorlands 📚✨

Working with local charities, we raise funds to help children discover the magic of reading…
Because every child deserves a book to call their own ❤️

📚❤️ EVERY DONATION COUNTS ❤️📚

Sometimes people tell us:

“I’d love to help, but I can’t donate very much.”

Our answer?

It all counts.

£5.
One book.
A box of books.
A social media share.
An introduction to a local school.
A few hours of your time.

There isn’t one particular way to support Literacy for Life.

Every little bit helps us get closer to our goal of making books accessible to more children across our local communities.

So please don’t ever think that your contribution is too small.

Because when lots of people do a little…

we can achieve something BIG. ❤️📚

✍️📚 CALLING ALL LOCAL AUTHORS! 📚✍️

Are you a children’s author based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire or the surrounding areas?

We would LOVE to hear from you! ❤️

We’re looking to connect with more local authors who might be interested in supporting Literacy for Life.

Whether that’s through donating books, supporting an event, visiting a school, sharing our work or simply helping us spread the word — we’d love to start a conversation.

We know there are some incredibly talented authors right here on our doorstep.

And what could be more wonderful than helping local children discover the magic of reading while supporting local authors at the same time?

If you’re a local author — or know one — please tag them below or ask them to get in touch.

Let’s get more local stories into local children’s hands. 📚❤️

🎄📚 CHRISTMAS STARTS EARLY FOR US! 📚🎄

Christmas might still feel a little way away…

…but for Literacy for Life, the planning starts much earlier!

This year we donated 280 BRAND NEW children’s books to Alice Charity to be included in their Christmas boxes.

280 brand-new books.

280 children receiving the gift of a story.

280 opportunities to discover a new favourite book.

And this is exactly why we ask for brand-new books when we’re collecting for Christmas.

We want children to have that special feeling of opening a book that is completely their own. ❤️

We’re already thinking about this Christmas and how we can reach even more children.

And we’re going to need your help… 📚🎄

❤️📚 SUPPORTING ALICE CHARITY 📚❤️

We’re proud to work alongside local organisations who are already making such a huge difference to families in our community.

This year we donated 120 pre-loved children’s books to Alice Charity for them to give out at their community events.

And that’s something we really love about what we do.

A book that has been donated to Literacy for Life can have a journey far beyond our hands.

It can travel into a community event, into a family home and eventually into the hands of a child who might otherwise not have had a book to read.

Thank you to everyone who has donated books to us.

Your generosity really does travel. ❤️📖

✍️📚 AUTHORS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE 📚✍️

One of our favourite projects this year was helping to give the children at our competition-winning school an extra special experience.

As part of their prize, Literacy for Life paid for local author Brian Frederick to spend the morning at the school.

It was wonderful to be able to bring a real author into school and give children the opportunity to experience books and storytelling in a completely different way.

We believe that literacy isn’t just about reading words.

It’s about imagination.
It’s about creativity.
It’s about confidence.
It’s about discovering that stories can take you anywhere. ❤️

And we absolutely loved being able to make this happen.

Thank you, Brian, for helping us make it such a special morning! 📚

🎉📚 FESTIVAL OF BRILLIANT 📚🎉

Earlier this year we had the absolute pleasure of attending the Festival of Brilliant — and what a day it was!

We gave out OVER 200 BOOKS to children and families. ❤️

There is nothing quite like seeing a child choose a book, hold it tightly and know that it is theirs to take home.

We love taking books into the heart of our local community and meeting the children and families we’re here to support.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this possible and to everyone who stopped by to say hello.

200 books might sound like a number…

…but to us, that’s 200 little reading adventures waiting to happen. 📖✨

And that’s what it’s all about. ❤️

📚 TWO NEW LENDING LIBRARIES! 📚❤️

One of the things we’ve been incredibly proud of this year is donating two lending libraries and stocking them with books.

We love the idea that these books won’t just be enjoyed once.

They can be borrowed, shared, read, returned and discovered by lots of different children and families. 📖

That’s exactly what we want Literacy for Life to be about — creating opportunities for children to access books again and again.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated books or money to help make projects like this possible.

You really are helping us put books where they are needed most. ❤️

Because it’s more than just a book.

❤️📚 A NEW CHAPTER FOR LITERACY FOR LIFE 📚❤️

We’re so excited to be bringing our social media back to life and sharing more of what we do.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be showing you where your donations have gone, introducing some of the people and organisations we work with, sharing our plans for Christmas and — most importantly — asking for your help.

There are so many ways you can support Literacy for Life.

You can donate books.
You can donate money.
You can share our posts.
You can introduce us to a school, charity or community group.
You can help us collect books.
You can simply tell somebody about what we do.

It all makes a difference.

So, if you’re pleased to see us back…

please stick around. ❤️📚

📚 WHAT DOES LITERACY FOR LIFE ACTUALLY DO?

We’re often asked exactly what happens to the books that are donated to us, so here’s a little look behind the scenes! 👀

We work with local schools, charities, community groups and organisations to get books directly into the hands of children.

That might mean:
📖 Giving children brand-new books to keep
📖 Stocking community lending libraries
📖 Providing books for community events
📖 Supporting schools with reading opportunities
📖 Working with local charities to include books in Christmas support
📖 Creating exciting experiences around books and reading

We want books to reach the children who will benefit from them most.

And every single donation, whether it’s a book, money, time or a helping hand, helps us make that happen.

Thank you for being part of our little Literacy for Life community. ❤️

📖 WHY DO WE DO IT? ❤️

A book might seem like a small thing.

But for a child who doesn’t have books at home, receiving a brand-new story to keep can mean so much more.

It can be:
✨ A bedtime story
✨ A new adventure
✨ A quiet moment with a parent
✨ A chance to discover a favourite character
✨ The beginning of a lifelong love of reading
✨ A book they can call their own

At Literacy for Life, we want to remove some of the barriers that prevent children from having access to books.

We believe books should be something every child can enjoy — not something that depends on their circumstances.

Because it’s more than just a book. ❤️📚
