We stand by Broken Biscuits every step of the way. I have been to their property and can confirm there is no cattle shed 🤣 although they might have buried it in the sandpit 🤭
The dogs at Broken Biscuits are incredibly well cared for, they go over and above for their care, and I personally would recommend them to anyone. I don’t say that lightly, I have been working with animals for years, and believe me there are plenty I wouldn’t recommend!
They have been the subject of a targeted attack, I think some jealous individuals want their own cattle shed maybe?
The truth always prevails…
🎯 A SERIOUS NOTICE FROM BROKEN BISCUITS 🍪
This isn’t a statement we particularly want to have to make, but circumstances this week mean that we need to be extremely clear.
We have become aware that serious and entirely false allegations about the way animals are housed and cared for at our home have been circulated to individuals, businesses, organisations, neighbours and people associated with Broken Biscuits.
Among those allegations is a claim that disabled dogs brought from China are being kept hidden from view in a dilapidated cattle shed on our property.
This is categorically and completely untrue.
We don’t own a cattle shed. There isn’t a cattle shed full of dogs. There are no dogs secretly housed in outside buildings.
Our dogs live inside our home, with us.
On our sofas. On our beds. Under our feet. Following us into the kitchen and, usually, the bathroom.
That’s how they live, and that’s how they have and will always live. This is our life’s purpose it’s not a job .
We are also deeply upset by the way an apparently innocent conversation involving somebody we welcomed into our home now appears to have been taken, reframed and used as part of something altogether darker.
From what we understand, a visitor may simply have expressed disappointment that they didn’t get to meet or see all of the animals when they came here.
There is nothing sinister about that. And we certainly don’t believe that person could have anticipated that such an ordinary comment might later be weaponised in this way.
What concerns us is that the person circulating these emails appears to have latched onto that conversation and transformed “I didn’t get to see all the dogs” into an insinuation that animals were deliberately being concealed from visitors — and from there, into an extraordinary allegation about dogs supposedly being hidden in an outside cattle shed.
Those are two completely different things.
People who come here for wheelchair fittings, mobility support or other appointments are coming because their dog needs our help.
They are not buying admission to a zoo.
Broken Biscuits is an animal sanctuary caring for exceptionally vulnerable animals. We are not a zoo, a petting farm or a circus where every animal is brought out for visitors to inspect.
Many of the dogs we care for are profoundly disabled, elderly, recovering from surgery or medically vulnerable. At present, we are providing some of the most intensive nursing care we have ever undertaken.
Their medical needs, rest, routines and welfare will always take priority over somebody’s desire to see them.
What makes this particularly concerning is the wider context. We are aware of continuing efforts to find fault with Broken Biscuits, damage our reputation and create difficulties for us here in Lincolnshire.
We will not speculate publicly about motives or conduct a dispute through social media. The evidence we have is being dealt with through the proper channels.
Because of the seriousness of what has occurred this week, we have taken legal advice and matters have been reported to the police. Relevant communications and evidence are being preserved.
But we are going to address this particular allegation.
We will shortly film a walk around our privately owned property and land. You can see the lawns, trees and buildings and, presumably, the remarkable invisible cattle shed we apparently haven’t noticed on our own land.
Sometimes the simplest answer to an outrageous allegation is simply to show the truth.
There is also another reason we are making this statement today.
Our home is private property.
It is where our family lives. There are children here. There are vulnerable animals here. Following events this week, we are understandably taking the security and privacy of our home extremely seriously.
Our property and its boundaries are monitored by CCTV.
Do not enter our property without permission. Do not arrive unannounced.
If you have received allegations about Broken Biscuits and genuinely want clarification, contact us. If appropriate, an appointment can be arranged.
We have never been frightened of legitimate questions, and we have nothing to hide.
But turning up at our private home, entering our land without permission, intimidating our family or interfering with the care of vulnerable animals is an entirely different matter. Any concerning or unauthorised activity will be documented and referred to our solicitor and/or the police as appropriate.
For anyone who has received these communications and contacted us rather than simply believing them thank you ☺️
We also accept that there may be people who received them and never told us. Of course that hurts. False allegations are particularly cruel because you never really know how far they have travelled or who has quietly believed them.
But we know how these dogs live.
Our vets know.
Our friends, neighbours, fosterers, volunteers and the many people who have legitimately spent time here know.
And most importantly, the dogs know.
We have spent years building our lives around animals other people couldn’t or wouldn’t care for.
They don’t live somewhere at the bottom of our garden.
They live with us.
Please respect our home, our family, our animals and our privacy.
And finally, to whoever is investing so much time and energy trying to create problems for Broken Biscuits in Lincolnshire:
We are not leaving Lincolnshire.
This is our home. This is where we have built our lives, where our animals are cared for and where Broken Biscuits will continue its work.
You will not frighten us out.
You will not intimidate us out.
You will not push us out.
We’re not moving out of Lincolnshire so have a day off.
