STEMPOINT are delighted to be partnering with some fantastic organisations to deliver projects to Year 12 students in the and this summer.

This week, we would like to highlight Cranfield University in . With support from dedicated Project Mentors, we are excited to be able to offer a record number of projects at Cranfield for 2026! These diverse projects in, Engineering, , , /Data Science and will enable students to gain hands-on research experience alongside experts in their field.

One student who took part in a project at Cranfield University last year said:

”My supervisor supported me both academically and personally throughout the project. He guided me through the technical aspects of using AI models and gave feedback on my results, but he also made adjustments to account for my visual impairment. This included helping me find accessible ways of working with data and ensuring I could fully engage with the project. This support made a big difference in helping me succeed”

We would like to thank the ongoing support from all the staff at Cranfield University for their partnership and for ensuring that Research STEM projects are accessible to all students.

Good luck to all students starting their -Level journey this year!

A new chapter begins, full of opportunities, challenges, growth, and exciting discoveries. Remember that success isn’t just about results; it’s about resilience, curiosity, and believing in your potential every step of the way.

A special good luck to our incredible Research STEM Cohort of 2025!

We are so proud to support such a talented group of future scientists, engineers, innovators, and researchers. We can’t wait to see the ideas you develop, the problems you solve, and the impact you will make.

Work hard, stay curious, and enjoy the journey ahead, your future starts now.

A huge thank you to a generous grant-giving trust for their recent award of £2,000 to help us encourage more girls into computer science.

Their funding will support two exciting Girls in Computing workshops, bringing together female students from different schools to gain hands-on experience with technology that goes beyond what can be taught in the classroom.

Participants will also have the opportunity to meet inspirational female role models working in the tech sector. It promises to be a fantastic day which will bring technology to life for these young people!

Exciting times at Research STEM!

With applications now officially closed, our team is hard at work behind the scenes carefully matching talented students to their upcoming Research Placements. This is one of the most rewarding (and busiest!) moments of the year, as we connect curious minds with real-world research opportunities that can shape their futures.

Each application represents a student ready to take the next step—whether that’s exploring cutting-edge science, diving into innovative engineering projects, or gaining hands-on experience in a professional research environment. Our team is dedicated to making the best possible matches, ensuring every student is placed where they can thrive, contribute, and grow.

🌟 For students, this is just the beginning of an incredible journey. As summer approaches, excitement is building for what lies ahead:
🔬 Working alongside experienced researchers
💡 Tackling real-world challenges
📈 Developing skills that go far beyond the classroom
🤝 Building connections and confidence for future pathways

We know the anticipation is high, and we can’t wait to start sharing placement outcomes soon. To all our applicants—get ready for a summer full of discovery, inspiration, and opportunity!

Stay tuned… big things are coming!

A great afternoon at our Luton networking event organised by our STEM Engagement and project Lead, Vannessa Nash

We brought together teachers and employers to open up real conversations about pathways into .

A big thank you to the employers who gave their time and shared their insight:
VolkerHighways, Leonardo, Willmott Dixon, MBDA, Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Air Force (RAF), Voyager Flight Simulation Ltd.

And a special mention to the Team at Chiltern Learning Trust, who showcased some brilliant student work on the day.

Events like this matter. They help connect classrooms with industry and give young people a clearer view of what’s possible.
