๐ WELL DONE AND THANK YOU!
Last week we opened our doors to the public for the first time to celebrate the people who help make Rotary in Stevenage happen โ and it made the evening feel even more special.
We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Stevenage, Councillor Lloyd Briscoe, and the Mayoress, Sarah Pattison, along with District Governor Dr Kendal Pitt (Rotary's regional lead) and several district officers. Thank you all for joining us!
๐ A huge well done to our Tankard Cup Award winners
โ recognising outstanding contribution to the club this year:
โ Sobere Opusunju, for his work on an overseas school restoration project and support with club media
โ Peter Brown, our Treasurer and Community Services Chair
โ Betty McLatchy, for her fundraising initiatives
๐๏ธ A Paul Harris Fellowship โ one of the highest honours Rotary International can give โ was awarded to our President Ian Marvell, now serving his 4th term, for his dedication to the Club, his work on the Rotary Young Chef Challenge, and building our links across Stevenage.
We were also proud and delighted to recognise Cllr Nazmin Chowdhury, former Mayor of Stevenage, as a member of the Paul Harris Foundation, for her dedicated service to the people of Stevenage and her support of our Charitable Trust.
And in an emotional close to the evening, we said a heartfelt farewell to Stephen and Ann Sypula, thanking them for an incredible 34 years of service to the club.
Past President Peter Tippett summed up: "This is what Service Above Self looks like. We are grateful to every member who makes what we do possible." ๐
Do you know one of tonight's award winners? Drop a congratulations below ๐ โ we'd love for it to reach them!
