Looking to build a strong volunteer team - free training for VCFSE members on 25 June - secure your place now

Last few places remain on this free workshop designed to help VCFSE organisations in Broxbourne and East Herts strengthen the way they recruit, manage and communicate with volunteers.

Struggling to attract volunteers? Finding it hard to keep them engaged? Want better systems to support your volunteer team?

In small local charities, community groups, and social enterprises, volunteers are at the heart of everything. But volunteer expectations have changed — and so must our approaches. This workshop will give you the tools, insights, and confidence to build a volunteer experience that works for both your organisation and the people who support it.

Tying in with Volunteers Week this month (June 2026) we have partnered with GoVolHerts to support you to attract and retain more volunteers. This practical, interactive 2.5‑hour in‑person workshop is designed to help VCFSE organisations in Broxbourne and East Herts strengthen the way they recruit, manage, and communicate with volunteers.

By the end of the workshop, you will:
Have a clearer understanding of who your volunteers are
Know how to improve your communication and recruitment messages
Understand how volunteers move through your organisation
Have practical systems to better support and retain volunteers
Feel more confident and better equipped to grow your volunteer base

This session is ideal for:
Charities, community groups, CICs, social enterprises
Volunteer managers, coordinators, team leaders
Trustees or staff newly responsible for volunteers
Organisations struggling with recruitment or retention
Groups looking to refresh or professionalise their volunteer processes

No prior experience is required — the workshop is designed to support beginners as well as those wanting to refine existing practices.

It’s (15–21 June 2026), led by Mencap with the theme “Do you see me?”
We, Carers in Hertfordshire, recognise the vital role carers play in supporting people with a learning disability or other care need, and offer chances to connect, share views and experience, and influence services. For example, tomorrow, Thursday (18th June) you could join our online Learning Disability & Autism Focus Group, 1.30pm–3.30pm, to share feedback for Hertfordshire’s Co-production Boards.
We’re also hosting a Health Event on Tuesday 14th July, 10am–1pm in Ware. Get information and advice on topics like diabetes, dental care and specialist support.
Book via our website (listing in events section) or call us Carers in Hertfordshire.
