As we reflect on what we have accomplished in 2024, we're inspired by the stories of connection and transformation witnessed through our workshops. Every session has brought us closer to our mission of empowering families and creating brighter futures.

💙Below, is a heartfelt message from Centre Manager, Ijaz Khan of Hayes Muslim Centre, reminding us why we do this work.💙

"The Hayes Muslim Centre has been working in partnership with Brilliant Parents for some years now. More recently, we approached Brilliant Parents as a recent homicide in the Hayes area caused many of our members great concern regarding the safety of their children and asked us for support. Brilliant Parents not only listened but were reactive to the needs of the community.

What transpired was the delivery of two workshops which took place in the 2024 summer holidays and October 2024 half term, which was funded by the Violence Reduction Unit. With the help of Andrez Harriott from The Liminality Group the workshops for young people were designed to help them make the right choices when faced with outside influences. Simultaneously, the Brilliant Parents practitioners delivered the Building Teenagers' Survival Skills Triple P workshop. This raised our parents' awareness of how to keep their children safe and the signs to look out for in changes of behaviour.

After each workshop, the coming together of parents and the young people to hear each others' perspective was inspiring. Brilliant Parents has been instrumental in listening to the needs of our community and taking action at a time when the voices of parents are so often ignored.

Our parents left listened to and empowered with 100% of them confirming they felt more confident to have open and calm conversations with their child regarding risky behaviour and 100% of our young people confirmed the workshop had helped them to think differently about their choices."

We know our work deeply impacts the we work with, and has the potential to create in the communities in which we work.

The workshops we ran in the latter half of this year, together with Andrez Harriott of The Liminality Group, and with funding from London's Violence Reduction Unit, was an opportunity to supercharge that impact.

💙Below, is a review of the programme from Gemma McCaffery, Area Manager - Hillingdon Libraries.💙

"Following the tragic passing of Kamari Johnson, Botwell Green Library partnered with Brilliant Parents to host workshops featuring Andrez Harriott. Andrez’s work was profoundly inspiring, and his messages resonated deeply with the young attendees. A particularly emotional moment came when Andrez encouraged the group to reflect on their stages of grief - this being the first session tailored specifically to their experiences. Following the workshop, several young people have expressed their desire for more sessions; demonstrating the lasting impact of this event.

Brilliant Parents went above and beyond to meet the needs of the young attendees, with Meave displaying exceptional organisation and a relentless commitment to raising awareness. Both Meave and Ann-Marie from Brilliant Parents showcased their genuine passion for supporting families. They are approachable, empathetic listeners who are deeply committed to making a positive difference. The Triple P parenting workshop was highly informative and engaging, providing essential tools for parents. Collaborating with Brilliant Parents was an absolute privilege, as they serve as a crucial lifeline for families, offering their services with compassion, expertise, and a non-judgmental approach."

🌍💖 Happy World Kindness Day from Brilliant Parents! 💖🌍

Today, we celebrate the power of kindness — not just in big gestures, but in the small, everyday moments that make a world of difference.

As parents, we know that modelling kindness is one of the most powerful gifts we can give to our children. Whether it’s a smile to a stranger, a helping hand to a friend, or words of encouragement to our loved ones, kindness has a ripple effect that can change lives.

Let’s raise a generation that values empathy, respect, and compassion. Together, we can make the world a brighter, kinder place for everyone. 🌟

“The Managing Fighting & Aggression discussion group was full of helpful tips, tools, and reminders of how to manage difficult situations with your child.

I have already witnessed a significant change in my child behaviour (and my own), and an overall positive shift in the mood of my family.

Often, we have the skills and know-how but need an empathetic and patient course deliverer like Sarah, to refresh our knowledge and suggest small adjustments in our words and actions, which can result in noticeable differences in behaviour. Thanks!”

It's always great to hear about the impact our courses have on the families we work with.

And thank you to everyone who turned up and made this event a success!

You helped us raise £2,573.09, which will go towards the work we do to guide and provide support to as they raise the next generation.

Last week, courtesy of London's Violence Reduction Unit, Brilliant Parents spent the half term holidays supporting young people and parents discuss how to navigate their way around risky situations.

We delivered a number of in community venues in the Hayes area including the Hayes Muslim Centre, Botwell Library and Harlington Young People Centre.

The young people heard first hand from criminologist Andrez Harriott of The Liminality Group about the consequences of making the wrong decisions.

Brilliant Parent practitioners discussed with the risks that today’s children face in modern society, and how we as parents can identify and minimise those risks where possible.

Over thirty young people attended the workshop at The Botwell Library. Have a listen as they discuss what they learnt.
