There were 17 of us today, a mix of regular, returning and new members. Our great volunteers and members made the new and returning people feel welcome.

When everyone has different sensory needs, it was great to see people spreading out and in separate conversations and as usual, no one was left out.

The two hours flew by and we look forward to another great session next week!

Something a little different today!

After meeting the great people at Support Staffordshire, informing them what we do, and having them drop in on one of our sessions, we were invited to a VCSE event — a gathering and forum focused on Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise groups.

We had a great opportunity to take the stage and notify those in attendance about what we do, as well as the benefits of having a group for Neurodivergent adults. Another great benefit was that we got to learn about many other groups and projects that we are excited to collaborate with and tell our members about!

Neuro Connects Staffordshire is also happy to announce that we will be returning to their next event in December.

Happy to share that Sophie who does great work for Neuro Connects is branching out on her own and starting a new group.

We have been asked a few times about support for Neurodivergent parents so it's great to have a group to signpost to.

Hello 👋

I’m Sophie, I am a first time mum to my baby girl Lola, who is 3 months old. I wanted to set this group up to help neurodiverse mums like me and have a supportive community that we can lean on. Really excited about this venture and really hope that you can join me and Lola. So, so excited to meet you all and your little once’s.

Group starting Tuesday 6th October from 1-3pm, no pressure to be there for the whole session, come and go as you please lovelies.

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR TOMORROW'S SESSION

Apologies all for the last minute post and the previous announcement that the session would be on as normal.

Due to safety concerns with the heat and limited staff availability the session tomorrow is CANCELLED. Please all stay cool and hydrated.

All regular attendees for the session have been informed, our first cancellation in 6 months and hopefully our last for a while. We look forward to seeing you all next week!

Notice for next 5 weeks!

Sessions are on as normal but please note that as it is the six weeks holiday the noise and foot traffic in the venue has increased. Anyone coming is welcome to bring their ear defenders if they find them useful.

Not to worry if you don't think you can make it for these weeks, we will be on ever week after the holiday too!

As a social group who have strong links with the LGBTQ+, with many of our members being in the community it would be a disservice to them and the moral foundations of our group to be silent.

Everything the LGBTQ+ has campaigned so bravely for should not be taken away. Its on us as a society to understand eachother and be accepting.

We fully support our friends at Stafford Pride and hope this is resolved quickly. Neuro Connects will always be a safe and accepting place and those in the LGBTQ+

Check out this event for later in June hosted by our friends at Nas Stafford Branch

FREE event - meet other parents and carers and NAS volunteers for a chat, a drink (and cake!)and a chance to catch up. Zooms in the evening are great, but it's also lovely to do something face to faced, especially for people who can't do evenings.

The timing can't suit everyone but we hope to see some of you there. Please indicate if you are intereted so we have an idea of numbers for the refreshments.
