Our latest blog is live 🧡

We’re sharing the story of our very first Companion Grove outing — a gentle canal boat trip on the Ernest Thomas II with South Staffordshire Narrowboat Company.

And what a day it was.

There was sunshine, tea, lunch from Cup a Cha Stafford soft music, peaceful canal views, and plenty of good natters.

But the best part?

The car journey there was quiet. Everyone was a little nervous, which is completely normal when you’re meeting new people.

By the journey home, you couldn’t get a word in edgewise.

That’s what these outings are really about. Not just getting out of the house, but helping people feel included, relaxed, confident, and connected.

🤝 A new project is aiming to help older adults in Stone and surrounding rural areas reconnect with community life.

Companion Grove CIC, based in Stafford, has launched The Companion Connection Hub with support from the Support Staffordshire Small Sparks Fund.

The project offers gentle one-to-one support for older adults and people with limited mobility who may feel isolated, have lost confidence, or would feel more comfortable attending local activities with someone by their side.

The CIC is also looking for volunteers and is inviting referrals from families, residents, community groups, and health and social care professionals.

Do you know someone who might benefit?

When Mum or Dad stops driving, their world can suddenly become much smaller.

It’s not always about needing “care.” Sometimes, it’s about needing a lift to an appointment, help getting to the shops, or someone friendly to go with them so they still feel confident and independent.

For families, it can be hard too. You want to help, but between work, children, distance, and everyday life, you can’t always drop everything.

Our latest blog talks about that tricky middle ground — when your parents are managing, but they still need help getting out and about.
