National Association of Wheeled Bin Washers

National Association of Wheeled Bin Washers The NAWBW is the voice of the UK bin cleaning industry

The National Association of Wheelie Bin Washers represents those wheelie bin washing companies that are able to satisfy the associations entry criteria, which requires them to comply with all existing legislation and guidelines for the washing of bins using high pressure water pumps. The association aims to provide a forum to monitor and influence UK Legislation with regard to the washing of wheel

ie bins whilst policing the industry on behalf of its members to try and improve standards within the association’s membership. It also aims to influence both Councils and Government with regard to the policing of those companies that do not respect present legislation.

Good morning all,

With legal consent to discharge wastewater still being a bit of a grey area, some local water authorities claim you do not require a licence, while others warn of fines of up to £50,000 for bin cleaners caught disposing of water in the streets or down rain gullies — all while charging significant fees for temporary licences to operate from home.

The NAWBW has entered negotiations with one of the UK’s leading water retailers to develop a standard, more affordable permanent licence specifically for bin cleaning companies.

We’ll keep our members updated here, so watch this space!

Sign up to attend the Manchester Cleaning Show for free

With only a couple of weeks left until the premier cleaning, hygiene and FM event for the North and Midlands returns, people are being urged to sign up now to attend – it’s free.

The Manchester Cleaning Show returns to Manchester Central on 18–19 February, bringing together sector leaders, innovators and operational experts to explore the issues shaping the future of cleaning, FM and the wider operational environment.

The 2026 Manchester Cleaning Show will feature live product demonstrations, expert-led seminars and focused networking opportunities, alongside an exhibition floor presenting the latest products and sustainable solutions driving progress across the sector.

The strong programme and packed schedule reflect a growing industry appeal, with exhibitor demand for 2026 exceeding expectations and more major names confirmed for the show as exhibitors and expert panellists.

Speakers confirmed include David Garcia and Delia Cannings, of the British Cleaning Council, Heather Downes, Head of Innovation at Mitie Hygiene & Environmental Services, Lisa Williams, National Chair of the UK Housekeepers’ Association (UKHA) and Jo Gilliard, CEO of Jangro, reflecting the breadth and depth of expertise represented across the industry.

The programme covers key sector priorities including workforce development, digital transformation, ESG, large venue cleaning, healthcare and higher education cleaning, future talent, hotel housekeeping and inclusive employment. These topics will be delivered through a series of expert-led seminars and panel discussions.

Major names are already confirmed for the 2026 show, including Jangro, Killis, Lucart, Team Software, the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc), the Cleaning & Support Services Association (CSSA), Tork, Northwood Hygiene, i-Team, Embassy UK, and SC Johnson Professional. You can also pop by the BCC stand to order a free copy of the 2026 industry research report, which will be launched at the show.

Paul Sweeney, event director, said: “This year’s conference programme reflects the scale of ambition across the industry. We’re bringing together leaders who are driving change in cleaning, FM and operational services, and that’s why the show continues to grow. Exhibitors come to Manchester because it delivers the right conversations with the right people, and that momentum is already clear for 2026 – we can’t wait for the show to open.”
