Schools almost out for six weeks! Factor in trips with lunch to make days out affordable - even a couple of hours at the town park, make it feel like a day out with lunch out.
Obviously there’s lots in this list that aren’t in Stafford or anywhere near but some are so make good use of what there is 😊

Sadly it’s only one role but it might just be perfect for someone

We are recruiting a Gardener Apprentice, level 2
Come and join us on a National Trust apprenticeship where we will support and develop you to play an integral part in our work. You don’t need experience for this role, just loads of enthusiasm and a desire to learn.
Working in a team of six, you’ll experience and develop a range of practical horticulture skills such as mulching, pruning, leaf clearing and weeding. You’ll plant and maintain trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants and help cut the hedges, mow our lawns are more.

Proposed FTE Salary £24785
• Start date: 4 October 2026
• End date: 5 May 2028
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

If you have a major problem just going and talking about it is the start you need.

New crisis cafe opens in Stafford to support people struggling with their mental health.

Connection Point @ Café 43 is based on Browning Street and is open to adults aged 18 and over. The cafe is staffed by Turning Point Recovery Workers who are trained in mental health support. They work alongside Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust’s Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment team and House of Bread volunteers.

The service offers a safe, non-clinical place for people who are in crisis, feeling distressed, or need someone to talk to. Visitors can drop in without an appointment or call ahead to book.

It is open Monday to Friday from 4pm to 10pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 12 noon to 8pm.

So this is the council website ( shared from another Stafford site) I’m hoping the new food waste situation will settle down over the coming weeks.
It’s new for the operatives as well.

Collections start next week.
I managed to find a spot in the cupboard under the sink to put the bagged little caddy.
I had some stale bread and eggshells to put in plus dried out cheese. The outside caddy with the bag now in, hasn’t had any creatures by it with the handle forward, it’s locked and hopefully safe.
I do have a small compost bin in the garden for peelings and stuff so my new food waste bin shouldn’t get too overloaded.

Have you received your food caddy? - Collections start from 13th April

The external food waste caddy will be emptied on your usual collection day and should be placed alongside your waste and recycling bins and be visible from the road.

The food waste will be collected by a separate vehicle and at a different time to your other bins.

All councils have to take part in the food waste collection service. This was introduced by the Conservatives Government in 2024.

Food waste will be turned into energy and bio-fertiliser via anaerobic digestion
