💚 12th March 1988- a lighthearted rulebook, written in long hand by Guernseymen Peter Martel and the late Chris Day, brought Guernsey and Jersey Vintage (45+) and Veteran (35+) Men’s hockey sides together to compete for the Ledger Trophy for the first time

📕 Steeped in history, the Ledger itself “shall never spend a night in Jersey”. With fog grounding return flights in 2013, a midnight RIB rescue saw the book return to Guernsey to honour the rule.

🇬🇬 This Saturday Guernsey hosts the 37th edition, with games from 11:30- get yourself down to Footes Lane to witness another year of inter-island hockey history

It’s national volunteers’ week and we’d like to say an extra special thank you to all the volunteers who help to run Guernsey Hockey.

Coaches, committee members, photographers, junior assistants, team captains, umpires and everyone else who helps behind the scenes. Without you, we simply couldn’t run the club.

So for everything you do, THANK YOU- your help doesn’t go unnoticed 💚

🏑 Our annual Yr6 tournament wrapped up the 25/26 Outreach programme last Thursday — and it was our biggest one yet!

👏 A record high 12 primary schools joined us at the Hockey Club for the event.

🏆 Elizabeth College Guernsey were crowned eventual champions beating Hautes Capelles 1-0 in the final, while Blanchelande received the Fair Play Award for their excellent sportsmanship and respect towards umpires throughout.

🤩 A HUGE thank you to Les Beaucamps High School for providing junior umpires, and to Rihoy & Son whose sponsorship of the programme has enabled our Hockey Development Officer to deliver sessions to over 1100 pupils across Guernsey and Sark this year. We were delighted to welcome Dan Taylor, Managing Director at Rihoys, to present the awards at the tournament.

🚨 SUMMER OF SPORT 🚨

💚 We’re looking to improve our social offering at the Club, opening more frequently to support the events our members want to hold

⚽️ Therefore, we will be opening our doors for the FA cup final this Saturday and for England’s World Cup campaign throughout the summer!

🏑 Nick and Andy have been flying the Guernsey flag this weekend at the Home Nations Masters tournament in Aberdeen- Nick playing for Wales and Andy on the coaching team for England.

🏆 England were unbeaten over the weekend. Wales lost 2 and won 1, with Nick awarded POTM when the two sides met on the pitch earlier today!

🏑 This time last week, we held our Yr5 outreach festival

10 teams, from 9 different schools, participated in a friendly Round-Robin tournament at the Hockey Club to celebrate our Hockey outreach programme coming to a close for another academic year

📣 Congratulations to Vauvert Primary School, who were awarded our FairPlay award- for demonstrating great sportsmanship and positive attitudes throughout the afternoon

🌟 And a BIG thank you to our junior umpires from Les Beaucamps School for giving up their time to help us out

💚 Season Roundup: Ladies Division

🏆 Imperium Cubs were crowned champions of the Ladies League this season

👏 They had a fantastic season, lifting the trophy with 2 games left to play back in January
