✨ Commissioned IVY Groups ✨

It's late in the day, but we had our planning session to do before I shared details.

We have set our themes for the coming year, and identified key outcomes for each term. We're going up be covering topics such as:

🔴 Friendships and understanding bullying

🟠 Understanding money and deciding what to spend it on

🟡 Self advocacy

🟢 Managing change

🔵 Independent living skills, such as recycling and cleaning

🟣 Wellbeing

Each session also includes an element of food preparation, structured activities and downtime.

These groups are accessed via a referral to SEND Empowering Inclusive Communities - details are in the posters.

You can usually get a referral via the SEND EIC team if your child isn't already in receipt of Direct Payments or another DCC funded care package and is unable to attend any other group outside of school.

We presently only accept private referrals into IVY Spenny Indie, and Thrive Together (details of that will follow soon).

By the start of September, we're usually all ready to go for the start of the new academic year. However, this year hasn't really gone as expected and unchacteristically, we've not yet been able to properly share news of 'what's on' from next week.

We sadly lost my dad a couple of months ago, after a relatively short period of him being seriously unwell. These things would usually be described as having 'battled cancer' but the truth is he didn't really have a chance and we watched him disappear over the course of just a couple of months. We then flew straight into summer holidays and the whirlwind that that was!

So finally having a little bit of time to stop and reflect has been necessary and it has delayed things a little.

Over the course of September:

🩵 Our SEND Empowering Inclusive Communities commissioned groups will restart - IVY Clubs at Aycliffe, Spennymoor & Bishop and our Thrive Together group. Watch out for emails from Joy about start dates.

🧡 Our community groups: The Hive, Bear Park Youth Cafe, IVY Langley and Lunch Club will restart (changes may happen). Make sure you stay tuned to those WhatsApp groups!

💚 Our Weekend Club will continue to run, with new time slots being added. All existing parents have been notified of times.

📚 You may also remember Elevate - the tutoring scheme I was going to launch in September. That was in the initial planning stages when I had to stop to help look after my dad, so I'll be getting that back on track.

🌳 And we are looking at some education provision for ND children with EBSA, but again, we were in the initial planning stages before Easter and that had to be put on hold.

So you may not have read about it yet, but it will all be released over the course of this month.

I'm presently on a train travelling back from Manchester, once I get home I will be organising the weekends and October half term.

We have a few changes to the weekend schedule from next week, which will affect some of our families.

I will be contacting everyone individually over the next day or two, to let you know if this will affect you and how.

Changes will be to the session times, as follows:

Saturday: 9.1, 1-5, 5-7
Sunday: 9-1, 1-5

We will also be opening up some after school sessions, 4-7pm.

If you have hours that you access privately, your sessions will remain 3 hours, within the 4 hour slot. If you wish to extend, please let us know when I contact you, and I'll do my best to accommodate you

I will be in touch with everyone ASAP, please be patient.

It's the very, very last day of summer at TYP for us today.

From Monday 7th September, our term time groups will re-start.

Our last Fun and Food summer holiday club session of summer 2026! The kids got the bus to the industrial estate to visit Planet (Leisure). An hour of trampolining, some food and finishing with bowling. Finished everything off nicely.

It's our last day of holiday clubs everywhere today! It feels like it's over in a flash and has lasted forever all at the same time!

It's our last FunandFood Dcc session too. Until Christmas! 🌲
