~Summer Challenge~

Thursday the 13th August is our ‘Day in the Life’ challenge day for SPS members.

You will need to take at least one photograph every hour between 9am and 5pm. More can be taken outside these hours if you feel inclined. (You're going to need your camera or phone with you at all times during the day!)

We hope this will encourage you to use your camera more and to have your best three photographs to show during the 2026-27 season that illustrate where you were and/or what you were doing that day.

Photographs should capture real, unposed moments during your day. Focus on your daily routines, your candid interactions, and the small everyday details rather than staging scenes.

For example:

First light: Shoot the soft morning glow coming through your bedroom or kitchen window.

Breakfast prep: Capture coffee brewing, toast crunched, or messy breakfast bowls on the counter.

Getting ready: Take candid shots of brushing teeth, fixing hair, or walking the dogs.

Midday meal: Shoot from above (bird’s eye view) for a flat-lay style of lunch or kitchen prep.

Work or hobbies: Photograph hands typing, pages flipping, gardening, or crafting.

Out and about: Document a walk down the street, shopping, pets playing, or a trip to a local park.

Dinner time: Capture cooking, chopped vegetables, your family chatting around the dinner table.

Relaxation: Shoot low-light moments like reading a book on the sofa or watching TV.

Don’t think of this challenge as a chore – it should be fun and enjoyable.

NB - if any non-members fancy a go and would like to share their best photos, please send a max of 3 pics via the group Messenger, and we'll post a selection during the rest of August.
