The Magnificent Tulips have gone to storage and the Wall Flowers and Polyanthus which brightened the Spring have been removed.
Now the Summer show beds and containers which have been designed again by our Co-ordinator Ann have been planted up by our volunteers for the 14th year.

The weather was cold and the wind was whistling through the old damaged corrugated plastic bird Sanctuary pens.
The Parrots and Finches and Curators Conner and Emily and their casual student helpers were shivering.
Once again our Botanic Volunteers came to the rescue by financing and replacing the old plastic with white double facia panels.
Thanks to volunteers John and Austin all the birds are much more comfortable.
Many thanks also to our sponsor Ian.
The Aviary is now warmer and looks more attractive and brings so much happiness to the young and old and is so healthy for the mind and body of our visitors.
And it’s all free !

We are always showing our floral displays all year round.
But we also spend a lot of time keeping the paths at the front end of the Botanic Gardens clear for walkers.
The drainage isn’t good and mud comes down off the banks.
Annoyingly we have some selfish dog walkers not picking their dog muck up.
We can’t leave it there but it shouldn’t be our job should it?
In a few days the beds and planters we planted up last October will be in full flower until May.
Then it’s all hands removing the plants and saving the Bulbs and planting up for the Summer displays and hopefully judged as “Outstanding “ for the 12th year running.
Let’s hope it will be a lovely summer and any rain comes down at night so we don’t have to water too much !

It won’t be long before our 2025 displays to celebrate the Botanics 150 years and the VE year will be gone to be replaced with Autumn Winter and next Spring plantings.
Here’s a final look with a literal high light taken from high above.
Thank you to all our sponsors and donators and helpers and Steve and Gail of the cafe and Settle inn and Martin and his great Natural Alternative group who do great work all over the town.
Jess Rickers events star organiser.
We hope the RHS judges recognise the effort and skill put into by all the town’s volunteers.
