It is the last day of Men's Health Week today. We know that asking for help doesn't always come naturally for guys, but if you're dealing with a cancer diagnosis โ€” or supporting someone who is โ€” you don't have to just get on with it quietly.

The Southport Macmillan Centre is a place where you can talk, ask questions, get practical help, and just have a cup of coffee with someone who understands.

It might be that you want to get fitter and stronger again, being part of one of our exercise classes is a great way to get started.

If you have prostate cancer we would also recommend the local Prostate Cancer Support Group that meets at the Richmond on the first Thursday of every month.

For information on how we can support you call us or drop in.

Any form of exercise is beneficial for cancer patients. Swimming is a full body exercise that is highly recommended. We meet in Splashworld every Wednesday during school term time (we are not on during school holidays). Its is a lovely group that is really supportive and as you can see from the photo, not all the time is spent swimming!
The great thing is that we have the whole pool to ourselves, which can be so important for some patience who may have a compromised immune system.

๐Ÿšถ Fresh air. Friendly faces. Good conversation.
Our Walking Group meets every Tuesday and is open to anyone affected by cancer โ€” whether you're in treatment, recovering, or supporting someone you love.

Walking has been shown to really help both physical and emotional wellbeing during and after cancer. And the company isn't bad either! ๐Ÿ˜Š

The walk is for 40-60mins around the town and we meet for coffee afterwards.
Want to join us? Call us on 01704 533024 or pop into the centre to find out more. Alternatively, just turn up at The Atkinson at 10.30am.

For the next few weeks, we are going to introduce our staff to you.

Hi, my name is Donna and I am the Cancer Navigator for the Ainsdale and Birkdale area. Having experienced cancer myself, and am a qualified counsellor, I truly understand how vital it is to have consistent support.
While your medical team focuses on your treatment, I can be your go-to person for everything else โ€” the worries, the questions, the practical and emotional stuff that can feel so overwhelming. Iโ€™m here to listen, answer questions, or just be a safe space for you to talk. I am also able to refer you to our other services and to other agencies.

If you need support get in touch.
