Skills for independence are something we work on with young people every day at Rose Road.
From learning to bake, to getting train tickets and ordering our own food when out for lunch, these skills help disabled young people to confidently make their own choices, interact with people and make their way around.
K enjoyed watching the trains at Eastleigh Train Station. His Support Worker Gemma said: "K was confident going to the kiosk to choose leaflets and get his ticket. A huge thanks to the lady attendant for giving K a special train ticket with stickers on, he was so happy".
S enjoyed lunch out at the The Fleming Arms, Southampton. His Support Worker said: "We've been encouraging S to spend more time out in the community to help him be more independent. He went to the bar & told the staff his table number & what he would like to order, he also paid himself. He was very proud of himself & had a great session."
Great work on being confident and independent everyone!
