With Halloween creeping closer, we thought it was the perfect time to welcome a new member to Safe Space Southampton....and they might just have your October night out sorted! 🎃🏳️‍⚧️💛

Meet Strays Club , an indie & emo clubnight at Heartbreakers, run entirely by q***r people and built around alternative music, good times and a space where everyone can feel welcome.

Another brilliant community group is joining Safe Space Southampton 🏳️‍⚧️💛

Carabiner Club Soton hosts LGBTQIA+ meetups at The Rockstone in Bevois Valley, creating space for people to meet, have fun and find community.

“Visibility can be a double edged sword. It can be freeing and exciting in some ways but it can also invite harassment and hate. Creating a visibly inclusive space matters to us because it says ‘here is somewhere that you can relax’.

Today is IDAHOBIT, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

It’s an important moment to celebrate, respect, remember and show solidarity with LGBTQIA+ communities. But homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and other forms of discrimination don’t stop when awareness days do.

That’s why Safe Space Southampton exists.

We’re building a community-led directory of visibly safer spaces for trans, intersex and gender diverse people across Southampton: places where people can expect basic dignity, respect and inclusion.

We’re inviting local businesses, venues, services, organisations, community groups and individuals offering spaces, events or services to join us.

By signing up, you’ll be part of a local network committed to standing against hate, discrimination and exclusion, and helping people feel safer, more welcome and more supported in our city.

This is a commitment, not a checkbox. It’s about visible support, listening, learning and showing that trans, intersex and gender diverse people are welcome here.

You can also help us build the directory by sharing your own experiences of spaces in Southampton, good or bad, through our Community Feedback form.

The Barbell Division is an independent gym on Quayside Road, and “the place to be in Southampton if you’re serious about Strongman, powerlifting, Muay Thai, or pole!” 🏋💪
