Southampton-Palestine Friendship Network- SPFN

We are the Southampton-Palestine Friendship Network (SPFN). In the long-term, we will also be working towards an official twinning between the cities.

Over the last year, we have come together in Southampton to support our friend Ahmad, who is from Deir al-Balah in Gaza, Palestine, and his family and community. Through this, the Southampton community have already raised almost £20,000 for a water well and its operation in Deir al-Balah, through various fundraising efforts. We felt it was a natural continuation of these efforts to formalise and deepen these links between Southampton and Deir al-Balah through a Britain Palestine Friendship and Twinning Network group, https://www.twinningwithpalestine.net/. We plan and aim to support the people of Deir al-Balah through fundraising for lifesaving projects and other humanitarian projects in the city, guided by the people of Deir al-Balah on what they need to help themselves, and through this developing further links with the people in Deir, and educating and inspiring our community to support the just cause of the Palestinian people.

We are incredibly pleased to have been able to support this vital humanitarian and community work in Deir al-Balah, Gaza, Palestine 🇵🇸.

The right to education for children is a very basic one, accepted around the world. This right and need is not being met in Gaza, due to the ongoing genocide upon the indigenous Palestinian 🇵🇸 people, by their occupier.

A massive thank you to our friends on-the-ground for sourcing, purchasing and providing these educational tools for the displaced children in Deir al-Balah, as they attempt to return to school and education this term, in wherever they can be taught, by the steadfast men and women of Gaza.

And a huge thank you to everyone who attended the most recent picnic we held. Your generosity allowed us to support in this way.

Free Palestine 🇵🇸.

Please attend this if you can, tomorrow, Saturday 5th September, 5-6pm, Peace Fountain, East Park, SO14 7DW.

This is a Palestinian 🇵🇸 led initiative demanding that the basic human rights are met for those who have been taken by the genocide, and for the survivors.

We held a very successful community picnic to support Deir al-Balah, Gaza, Palestine 🇵🇸 yesterday in Southampton, despite the weather.

Thank you so much to all those who attended and helped, and for the generous monetary and food donations from Al Barakah Superstores and from Natura Food Centre.

We also supported the calls from The Witness Stone for the safe and dignified burial of the thousands of victims of genocide still trapped under the destroyed physical environment of Gaza.

We will never step away from our complete support for complete Palestinian 🇵🇸 liberation, freedom and prosperity.

Free Palestine 🇵🇸.

As is the same every single day, the occupation forces have mercilessly and cruelly attacked the completely defenceless Palestinian 🇵🇸 people in Gaza, all day.

Murdering many, and injuring many more.

These attacks included upon Abu Salim Mosque in Deir al-Balah, completely destroying this historic building of faith, and a place of some refuge and respite for the victims of this ongoing genocide.

The horror, the horror, the horror.
