Grassroots activism isn’t just about spending your time meaningfully by fighting for a better world for animals, though that’s always at the heart of what we do. 🐷🪧

It’s also a great way to meet like-minded people from different walks of life, make new friends, and build community.

The only requirements are that you care about animals and want to help in whatever way you can, whether that’s giving your time, making a donation, offering practical support, or simply coming along to find out more.

So activism doesn’t just help create a better world for animals; it can also make you feel more connected, meaningful, and hopeful.

In other words, it can also create a better world for you.

We paid another visit to Pets At Home - Shirley Southampton today for the Rescue Not Retail campaign calling on them to stop selling animals. 🐹🦎🐠

🐰 Benny the bunny activist turned heads inside and outside the store, 😅 and we had meaningful conversations with customers – including a former staff member who fully supported us and a kind woman we shared a list of local rabbit rescues with so she could volunteer and help bunnies in need. 🥹💜

We’ve been doing this outreach regularly in Southampton for almost a year now, and one thing is clear: the majority of Pets UK customers do not want animals to be sold in shops.

It’s time for Pets at Home to do right by the animals and stop profiting from their suffering. ❌️

Following the HUGE win by Plant-Based University of Southampton (https://www.instagram.com/plantbaseduos/) in February, where 80% of the student council voted in favour of a motion for menu items to be plant-based by default 🙌, Plant-Based Universities have been postering universities across the south coast to help get more Plant-Based Universities campaigns up and running 🌱

These include Arts University Bournemouth 🖌️, University of Portsmouth 🦈, University of Surrey 🦌, University of Sussex 🦡, University of Brighton ✶, and University of Chichester 📖

The aim is to get universities leading the way in transitioning away from animal agriculture and towards a plant-based food system 🌱🌍

There are now active campaigns at Bournemouth (Bournemouth University 🐕 and University of Wi******er 🐗, with more to come 👀
