Ocean Youth Trust South We sail with around 450 young people each year: roughly two-thirds will be disadvantaged or vulnerable in some way.

Ocean Youth Trust South is charity which uses Adventure Under Sail for positive personal development in young people aged 11-25: www.oytsouth.org/sail-with-us www.oytsouth.org/availability Ocean Youth Trust South is charity which uses Adventure Under Sail as a personal development opportunity for young people aged 12-25, taking them to sea in our beautiful boat Prolific. For all these young people

, a voyage is designed to develop confidence, team-working, the ability to cope with unfamiliar situations, and tolerance and understanding of others. Young crew members not only sail the boat, keep watch and help to navigate; they also learn basic life skills such as cooking and healthy eating. This page is to allow them to stay in contact with us .

Here’s Tori and Terry, two of our lovely volunteers! 🎸🎠

During this we want to highlight the very people who make it all happen - whether it’s by helping run a voyage and being first hand on the water with the young people and crew members who join us each week or by showing up and giving support in zillions of other ways (like helping out during maintenance days, giving support in the office, fundraising, by supplying us with treats and all the other wonderful things people do to keep us in operations!)

All the magic that is sail training could not happen without them! Not only are they allowing us to exist but the amounts of people who go above and beyond every single day make it all truly special is amazing ⭐️

Huge huge love from the staff team to anyone who volunteers and know that you are making a difference in every single person who steps onboard ☀️🩵

Happy and keep being rockstars 💜⭐️✌️

Some might say that we spent the whole day storm bound and alongside yesterday BUT what we actually did was travel a whole 0.4nm (as calculated by our crew!) from East Cowes to West Cowes ⛵️🗺️

We then spent some time tidying up the boat, making pizza wraps for lunch and exploring Cowes 🕺

Before dinnerz our crew took their pet eggs on a walk (pictures incoming) 🐣🥚🪺🎨 The evening ended with some time for self-reflection and games 🌅

First day on the water yesterday with our lovely new crew from 🎷🐢

After our usual briefings we had a quick dinner (burgers and curly fries! 🍔) and then set off with the golden hour following us, enjoying a break in the weather and the sunshine instead of the torrential rain we had had the rest of the day 🌅🌧️🌦️

Image Descriptions:

1 Four crew members on top of the roof of the chartroom, tying down our boarding ladder
2 The crew on the foredeck, standing around a watchleader who is holding the insides of a dummy lifejacket
3 Picture from the back of the boat, showing the sun shining as its setting with pretty reflections on the water
4 Crew sitting on the deck around a watchleader who is standing giving them a briefing
5 Crew preparing the deck to leave, three people smiling at the camera

We would like to take some time to appreciate all the volunteers who joined us onboard for yesterday’s maintenance day, especially since it is !

Prolific is a working boat that is constantly on the move from March through to November, welcoming lots of young people throughout the season, so days like yesterday are super important to give her some time to rest and reset! Huge thank you to all the volunteers who came down and joined us to give her some well deserved love, we couldn’t do this without you! ⭐️⛵️

We appreciate any help we can get, no matter the skill level! If you would like to get involved and help out we have more maintenance days planned on the following dates:

Sat 27th June (Southampton)
Sun 23rd August (Brixham)
Mon 12th October (Southampton)
Nov 2026 - March 2027 (aka our winter refit period if you feel like hanging around for a month or two or four instead…)

Keep these dates in your diaries and let us know if you can make any of them. Also, sweet (or savoury!) treats are always welcome 🩷

Lovely feedback from our voyage with Beaulieu Park School!

“Most lasting memory: sailing with the lovely sunset. I have never seen something so golden in my life. What a trip - a perfect way to connect with people you've never met and work out without going to the gym.”

“It was so great getting to know people and working as a team to overcome challenges. A special thank you to my watch leader for helping me and giving me and my group a great experience to remember.”

“Wonderful trip! I am so glad that I had the opportunity to be on Prolific. Thank you to all of the sea staff for being so kind and accepting. I have learnt so much here, thank you!”

“Such an amazing experience to learn new things, talk to new people and see great views.”

“Was an absolutely great voyage! Staff was incredible … Learnt many things on this trip. Overall an 11/10 trip!”

“The views and full experience was amazing and a once in a lifetime experience."

“The staff are super nice and made me love sailing. I am definitely doing this again. Everyone was great. Best bit: talking to everyone who I wouldn’t usually talk to at school, that was fun.”

“Amazing trip, was really interesting seeing how to sail. All the sea staff are really nice and approachable.”

“I love the crew as they were so sweet and nice and I suggest to try to do as much as possible, it is a good opportunity.”

And from the accompanying school staff:

“Brilliant trip, loved all the activities. Got to see Portland and enjoyed the sailing experience again. Looking forward to coming back next time. Sea staff were above and beyond.”

Thats a wrap like burrito, wherever we go, that’s what we show.

Image Descriptions:

1 Group photo of crew and sea staff, everyone is smiling at the camera as they stand on the deck in front of the boom.
2 Sea staff Watchleader is directing rhythm as the whole crew lines up on the deck to pull on the Mizzen Halyard to raise the sail.
3 Four crew members circle the table in the saloon, a sea staff member has a map spread out before them and is pointing to coordinates along the edge. In their hand they hold dividers.
4 Two crew members re-enact the famous scene from Titanic, one holds the waist of the other from behind as the other spreads their arms out wide. They are standing at the bow facing a beautiful orange sunset at sea.
5 Two crew members face each other on the deck in their oilskins, they are gesturing 67 as the boat moves through choppy water and past white cliffs.
6 A sea staff watchleader smiles at the camera on the left. In the middle of the photo a crew member stands at the helm steering the wheel. On the right a crew member is pointing ahead, map in the other hand.
7 A crew member stands facing the camera with pink sunglasses on and two thumbs up, they are standing on deck. Behind them is a calm sea and white, sheer cliffs.
8 Two crew members standing on either side of a sea staff sat in the chartroom, focusing intently. The sea staff had a map in front of them along with a ruler, divider and pencils. A spot of navigation!
9 Three crew members face sit casually on deck next to an emergency raft container. On the left, the crew member leans against the capping rail, in the middle the crew member smiles and gives a thumbs up, on the left, a seated crew member glances away in thought. The weather is clear and bright sunshine.
