Yesterday, our Chair of Civil Military Relations had the privilege of attending the Veterans Community Garden Party, kindly organised by Claire. A simple yet powerful idea, made even better by the beautiful sunshine.
This gathering, however, was more than connection. It was about building strategic partnerships and strengthening integration between the Armed Forces community and wider British society. True belonging cannot exist without integration, and striking that balance is essential.
It was a pleasure to engage with Natasha from the DWP, veterans from Not Forgotten, representatives from the Chelsea Pensioners, Steve from SAFFA, the of Basingstoke,
and MP Murphy.
Moments like this also create an opportunity to advocate for Commonwealth military personnel, veterans, and their families across the UK. Many are still surprised to learn that individuals from 25 nations continue to serve on operations today. Their contribution remains largely unseen, and that must change.
While much of our focus has been on establishing the Commonwealth House in the Midlands, the time has come to strengthen networks across the South West & South East of England.
