The Southampton Voluntary Services 100 Hours awards took place on Thurs 11 June, and 8 of our Coaches received an award. From left to right – Claire, Marina, Dominique, Isabelle, Jo, Susan & Claire + Lynda (not present) were all commended with these words: “All these reading Coaches give their time freely, offering patience, kindness and empathy without judgement. Lives are changed, confidence is restored and new opportunities are opened. Their compassion and steady encouragement of their Readers make an immeasurable difference in our community.” Many congratulations to them all! 👏😊

Tomorrow we are at the Redbridge Primary School Summer Fayre! Jan, Karen & Marina will be on the Read Easy stand - come along for a chat if you know someone who would benefit from our help. Or maybe you would like to volunteer to become a Reading Coach? No teaching background is required and free training and ongoing support are provided. Sat 13 June - from 11am - 3pm. 👋😃

Our New Forest team members are holding an information session at Lyndhurst Community Centre next Thurs 18 June! We are keen to find more volunteer Reading Coaches & raise awareness of our service throughout the area. We hope to chat to lots of local people! 😃👋🌳

Today is the 5th Birthday of our group! Throughout this summer we’ll be running a publicity campaign, “The Next Chapter.” We’ll be sharing some of our best moments, celebrating success stories & looking ahead to our future goals. We’ll also be highlighting how you can support our group – helping us to continue in our mission to reach all adults who want help with reading. 😊🎉

We send our heartfelt thanks to the Fenwick Community Fund & Lyndhurst Parish Council for their generous grant to our group. This money will be used to benefit our activity & expansion within a 10 mile radius of Lyndhurst in the New Forest. Thank you to everyone involved who helped secure this vital funding for further growth! 😊🙏🌳
