Springhallow School Forest School area is looking particularly pretty today. We cooked chocolate button bananas on the fire as the students first meal out here. Joyous!

To everyone who helped reforest Glade Lane Canalside Park — thank you.

Together, we’ve planted 3,000 native mixed broadleaf trees, transforming what was once a pile of industrial waste into a growing woodland.

This wasn’t easy work. It was rain-soaked, muddy, physical graft — and that’s exactly how real forests begin.

A huge thank you to the local community who came out in all weathers to plant trees with us — and stayed to gather round the fire, toast marshmallows, and celebrate what we were building together.

Big thanks to:
• Hannah — for organising the backbone of the project. Without you, it simply doesn’t run.
• George Longfellow Skeen — our calm organisational force on site, keeping structure (and keeping me smiling) in heavy rain.
• Tink — working joyfully through rain and shine… and unquestionably taking the award for muddiest hands.
• Saif — for volunteering an entire month with us and grafting hard throughout. We hope it’s paid off - welcome to the team.

Shout out to our sponsors, the schools who joined us, and Tom and Dale from Ealing Council for backing the vision and helping us get trees in the ground.

Celebrating Halloween with John Chilton Secondary School.

Every student had the opportunity to get creative with their own pumpkin.

We’ve saved the seeds and students will be growing their own carving pumpkins in the allotment ready for next autumn term.

We’ve been working with these students over the last two school years to improve and grow in the school allotment. Students get the chance to cook lunches on the fire as well as the enjoyment of getting out of the classroom into the garden.

Next week we are roasting the left over pumpkins and some of the seeds for students to sample - YUM.
