🟪 Small Charities Week
Monday 22 – Monday 29 June 🟪

Small Charities Week happens every year to highlight small charities and their work in local communities. Small charities need this week when you think that large, national charities can advertise on mainstream media across the year and whenever there is a major emergency. As the National Council of Voluntary Organisations commented, ‘Resilient charities can create stronger communities. But, the reality is …. costs are rising, demand is increasing and funding is falling’.

🟪 What it means

Hope for Southall Street Homeless (HSSH) falls in the lowest 25% of charities when measured by income. And in the spirit of all Small Charities, it contributes something vital to our local community. This has been recognised by the newly-elected Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Faduma Mohamed, by awarding HSSH ‘Charity of the Year’ status along with Stepping Stones Together. Both charities are committed to supporting marginalised groups, HSSH for homeless adults and Stepping Stones Together, for children with autism and for their families. (https://ealing.gov.uk/info/mayors_office)

🟪 What you can do

Call into the pop-up café near the War Memorial in Southall ( The Green UB2 4BJ) , a few metres from the Manor House, on Monday 22 and Wednesday 24 June between 10.00am and 3.00pm, have a hot drink and find out a bit more what HSSH is doing.

Double your donation When you make a donation through your bank this week it can be doubled. This works through you requesting a bank transfer to the organisation Big Give which partners with major donors and philanthropists to add the same amount to your donation. As a donor, you need first to form an account with Big Give. If you are interested to explore this option, please look at https://biggive.org/small-charity-week

💜 Come to the café and join us in the spirit of Small Charities Week!

🌺 A Huge Thank You! 🌺

Well done to Gursharan and our amazing knitting team for making and donating over 1,000 knitted poppies to the British Legions. Royal British Legion

It was lovely to welcome the councillor from Greenford to the café to collect them on behalf of the charity.

An incredible achievement—thank you all for your hard work, dedication, and generosity.
