Free Your Mind

Free Your Mind Award Winning Childhood Domestic Violence Support and Education. Trauma Informed Holistic Therapy Se

1 in 3 children will have an issue with mental illness directly linked to the experience of seeing domestic violence at home. Free Your Minds mission is to support individuals that suffer with mental illness due to the traumatic experience of childhood domestic violence. Through our workshops, awareness campaigns and support services, we aim to give them the tools to look after their own happiness

and well being, and to promote the importance of having healthy relationships. Those who have dealt with a mental illness, know and have seen life in ways so many others won’t, they know a pain and perspective so many never will. You could say that those people have had a lucky escape, but we are the lucky ones. WE have faced incredible, tragedy, pain, confusion hurt and sadness and we are still here, still going, still trying, still breathing.

Imagine carrying a heavy backpack everywhere you go; but instead of books, it’s filled with guilt, shame, sadness, and confusion. 🎒💔

That is the hidden weight Child Victims of Domestic Abuse carry every single day. Yet, they are still expected to show up at school, maintain friendships, and navigate a world completely out of their control.

Want to help us lighten the load of a child who is experiencing domestic abuse? We need YOU! Please DM us or email us at [email protected] if you are interested.

As a grassroots, non-profit organisation, Free Your Mind CIC works every day to support children and young people affected by domestic abuse. We provide safe spaces where they can be heard.

But funding cuts across the domestic abuse sector mean that organisations like ours are under increasing pressure. The demand for support continues to grow, while the funding available to provide it continues to shrink.

Without community support, many children may have to wait longer for the help they desperately need. Some may continue carrying their Hidden Backpack of fear and trauma into another school year, another birthday, and another stage of their life without the opportunity to unpack it. Your donation can help change that.

Keeping your head up and trying to get through another day can be incredibly hard for child victims of domestic abuse, especially without the right support and coping tools.

The impact of childhood trauma does not simply disappear; it can affect mental health well into adulthood, shaping confidence, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and a person’s sense of safety for years to come.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, can make a real difference. Please click the link in our bio. Thank you in advance. 💜

The Hidden Backpacks Campaign 🎒; It is the fear that keeps them awake at night. The anxiety they wake up with in the morning. The sadness hidden behind a smile as they walk into school pretending everything is okay.

Many children affected by childhood domestic abuse carry experiences so heavy that their young shoulders are already weakened by the weight of trauma, fear, and survival.

As schools break up for the summer holidays soon, many children will continue carrying this hidden backpack alone. Without support, some will return to school this year still holding the same fear, pain, and emotional burden.

We do not want another child to carry this weight in silence.

Your donation can help provide counselling, emotional support, and safe spaces for children and young people to heal from the trauma of domestic abuse.

Together, we can help make a child’s backpack lighter. 💜

Please click the link in our bio and support our campaign and help us change a child’s future.

If you would like to organise your own fundraising event in support of our work, we would love to hear from you. Please email us at [email protected]

For Childhood Domestic Awareness Month, we’ve launched our campaign 'Hidden Backpacks' 🎒 to shine a light on the hidden emotional weight that children and young people affected by Domestic Abuse carry with them every single day.

As shown in our campaign video, many children are carrying fear, anxiety, confusion, sadness, and trauma that others cannot always see or understand. No child should have to carry such a heavy emotional load alone.

Just £630 can provide a child or young person with 8 weekly therapy sessions with us; giving them a safe space to express themselves, process their experiences, begin healing, and feel heard.

Your donation could help make a child’s emotional backpack feel a little lighter. Every contribution, no matter the amount, can make a real difference. Please click the link in bio. 💜

Meet Nathan, our Property & Housing Ambassador. As a business professional in the housing sector and a long-time Free Your Mind volunteer with lived experience, he brings valuable insight, networks, and a strong passion for social impact.

Nathan is helping raise awareness of how housing instability and domestic abuse affect children and families, using his voice to champion safe housing, recovery, and long-term stability for survivors.

His work will highlight one of the biggest challenges survivors face: access to safe accommodation, while connecting businesses, housing providers, and community support.

"My intention is to use property not simply as an investment, but as a way to create a safe, stable space for people during vulnerable periods in their lives. Supporting individuals and families who need security, dignity, and a fresh start is something I care deeply about, and this collaboration allows me to combine my professional experience with a genuine commitment to social impact.”

We’re proud to have Nathan as part of the Free Your Mind, please join us in welcoming him. 🎉

As we celebrate , we would also like to say a huge thank you to Nathan and all of our incredible volunteers. Your dedication, compassion, and commitment make a real difference, and we are so grateful for everything you do.
