Bristol and West of England Clarsach Society Group for clarsach harp players, or those interested in this music, throughout South East Wales, the West Midlands and South West England

The Clarsach Society exists to promote and encourage the playing of the Clarsach ("Celtic" or non-pedal harp). As one of the most ancient instruments of Britain, the Clarsach has had a revival over the past century, partly due to the Clarsach Society's activities since its formation in Scotland in 1931. Our branch has about 40 members including adult and junior learners and more advanced players,

harp teachers and harp makers, and music publishers. Most of us join because we take pleasure in playing and learning, and enjoy the support we get from getting together with others for ensemble playing.

We had a fantastic workshop yesterday with Brenda Dor-Groot - thank you so much to Brenda for travelling to Bristol and for the participants coming to join in. We learnt loads and Brenda finished with a concert of jazz and blues music, especially some tunes from her new book.

Highly recommend catching Brenda playing or teaching if she is near you in the future
