Land East of Station Lane Update

As we expected, we now have sight (as many of you may already) of the proposal for 125 houses on the land east of Station Lane (KGW.1 and KGW.3 in the SWLP).

A letter has been issued to interested parties (see attached) and a website covering the proposals is now live: https://www.landeastofstationlane.co.uk/

The deadline to make your views known is 6pm on Sunday 27th September.

Save Lapworth is exploring some form of public forum to address residents' concerns. We'll post more shortly.

SWLP & Planning in Lapworth – If you haven't already, NOW is the time to act!

The deadline for submitting representations to the SWLP is Tuesday 8 September, and time is running short.

As anticipated, planning applications linked to the proposed development strategy are already beginning to appear. This means that we not only need to respond to the SWLP itself, but also start preparing for the individual planning applications that are likely to come thick and fast in the weeks and months ahead.

This is a critical period for Lapworth.

What can residents do now?
- Read and familiarise yourself with the SWLP proposals affecting Lapworth (while the sites have been removed from the latest publication, it doesn't mean they won't be added back in at a later stage of the process).
- Submit your own representation before 8 September.
- Keep an eye on emerging planning applications and be ready to comment.
- Encourage friends, neighbours and family members in the parish to get involved.

The more residents who engage now, the stronger Lapworth's voice will be in shaping the future of our village. Please don't assume others will do it for you. Every representation and every objection counts.

And please don't forget our neighbours who are facing an even bigger assault on the surrounding countryside - the proposed site at Hatton.

We in Lapworth might not live immediately adjacent to the site, but we will all feel the impact for decades, whether we are competing for essential services (e.g. Warwick Hospital) or coping with gridlocked roads. If you care about our countryside, if you want to support British farming, if you enjoy strolls along the canal, you will want your voice to be heard.

DEADLINE FOR SWLP REPRESENTATIONS: Tuesday 8 September, 23:59

SWLP Period of Representations is now live until Tuesday 8 September 2026.

Guidance as to your responses - how to respond, what you should/shouldn't include and points specific to Lapworth/Kingswood will be made available on the Save Lapworth website very soon.

Please also see the KHSR website and Keep Hatton Station Rural for information about our immediate neighbours - what's being proposed will impact us all.

The Regulation 19 consultation for the South Warwickshire Local Plan starts today.

This consultation is being undertaken on behalf the Government’s Planning Inspector and is focused on specific issues, namely whether the plan meets legal requirements, shows effective joint working between councils and has been properly tested in terms of soundness.

Reduce the SWLP to 15 years? That's what CPRE Warwickshire are proposing...

CPRE Warwickshire have emailed all Warwick and Stratford councillors arguing that the SWLP period should be reduced to 15 years. This would allow housing numbers to be reduced by 15,000 and a number of sites could then be deleted from the draft plan. The letter and the KHSR view is on our website: https://keephattonstationrural.com/reg19 -views-july

Many residents have written to Green Party councillors about the inclusion of the Hatton new settlement in the draft SWLP and have received a response from Cllr Davison. Is there any merit in their arguments? In our latest newsletter we consider Cllr. Davison’s points and demonstrate that the situation is not as he claims and the position being taken is likely to lead to a much longer time without an effective Local Plan. The newsletter also considers the Whole Plan Viability Study produced by Aspinall Verdi.
