Volunteers' Week is the perfect time to introduce the first of our new volunteer spotlight posts.

Each month, we'll be telling you about one of our incredible volunteers who kindly gives their time to support MY Trust.

To kick us off, we have Parnian.

Parnian loves spending time with our residents and enjoys the opportunity to give something back to the community. Her visits are always warmly welcomed, and our residents really look forward to seeing her each weekend.

Thank you, Parnian, for your kindness, dedication, and the positive difference you make.

MEET THE MY TRUST TEAM

Alison Roberts is MY Trust's volunteer coordinator. She works closely with local job centres and out in the community to support people on their journey back into work.

She says: "For many, taking that first step can feel daunting, especially after being out of work for a while.

"I’m passionate about helping individuals build their confidence, learn new skills, and realise their potential.

"Through volunteering, people gain valuable experience, feel more connected, and start to see new possibilities for their future."

My Trust offers a range of volunteering opportunities, so there’s something to suit everyone. It’s incredibly rewarding for Alison to see the positive impact they make, not just in our community but also in their own lives.

If you’re thinking about volunteering or want to find out more, please contact Alison on 07425373806 or via email: [email protected]

MYTrust is delighted to have welcomed new residents to Meeson Apartments during May.

Shine has worked in close collaboration with the Solihull Leaving Care Team to identify and support new residents to move into the scheme.

This marks an important step for each resident as they begin a new chapter, with a focus on stability, independence and building towards their own goals and aspirations.

The Shine team is proud to be supporting them at this stage of their journey and to provide a safe, supportive environment as they settle in.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re reminding young people that support starts with conversations.

At Shine, our team has completed su***de prevention training with Papyrus, the young su***de charity, and joined the local Orange Button Community Scheme, helping us better listen, support and signpost young people who may be struggling.

Sometimes the smallest check-in can make the biggest difference.

Shine and Aston Villa Foundation recently wrapped up a fantastic partnership, creating new opportunities and memorable experiences for young people at Solihull Academy.

As part of this wider work, Shine Supporter Helen has been leading weekly sessions at the academy alongside a colleague from St Basils, with a focus on proactive homelessness prevention, particularly around relationships, self-care and money.

To celebrate, students enjoyed a special visit to Villa Park, including a behind-the-scenes stadium tour. This followed one lucky young person having the chance to experience the atmosphere of Aston Villa’s Europa League quarter-final under the lights. He said it was the best night and his first time at a match as a lifelong Villa fan.

A brilliant way to mark the end of this chapter, and while this partnership has now come to a close, Shine’s work with Solihull Academy continues.
