Come and discover new ways of combining traditional yoga practices to move towards deeper physical healing and feel afresh the great benefits of yoga. This exploratory day with Rosie will give you time to reflect and release. It is designed to deepen your understanding of this transformation towards physical healing. We shall do this by investigating Nyasa, the practice of moving our consciousness into particular areas of the body.

Rosie brings a wealth of experience and humour to her teaching which will help you to open in a safe environment.

The saying is never so true as with our Balance: Use it or lose it. Tamsin will open the BWY with Standing Balances.

Our balance system diminishes as we get older if we don’t keep it tuned up, leading to an increased risk of falls and a reduced quality of life. But it’s a skill you can relearn and there’s no better place to start than with yoga. Balancing poses strengthen your legs and core, improve posture and help with focus and concentration. Try it for yourself - doesn’t matter if you wobble.

Lorna will guide you through a nourishing session for your hips, designed to support healthy movement both on and off the mat. This class aims to improve mobility, release tension and build stability in the hips. Working with the breath, we will begin with dynamic, yet gentle exercises, moving on to deeper hip work with alternatives available to suit your body and level.

Everyone welcome to this day of Yoga, our focus on how yoga can help us transition those curve balls and changes as life happens to us. Whether you are a newbee to yoga, a seasoned student or a teacher lets meet and share yoga to carry us forward.

Janine is sharing The Five Tibetans as a stimulating practise at the end of our day of yoga. The Five Tibetans are sometimes referred to as the 5 Rites of Yoga. I first discovered them in about 2010, at a yoga teachers get together and have carried the photocopied magazine article with me since! The sequence is said to be a "Fountain of Youth," as it increases energy, flexibility, and strength. Each rite is performed daily, building up up to 21 repetitions each. They involve spinning, leg raises, backbends, and inversions. I cannot attest to the youthful body, (as my own practice needs improving!) but they do definitely increase energy levels!

Catch the full day of in Itchen Abbas just the weekend after this. Get in touch if you can or wish to car share?

Ahimsa or Loving Kindness to ourselves and/or for our students. At the Yoga Festival Mark Robinson will be leading a discussion around how to make postures accessible. The photos illustrate how to build or modify for the inclined plane pose, Purvotasana, building in four stages as you gain strength or stopping at the version that suits you?

Thank you to Nikki for modelling the four versions of this sometimes forgotten posture. Is it your favourite?
