Swale Community Leisure (SCL) was established in 2004 to facilitate the provision of Sports and Leisure facilities in Swale provided by the two Leisure Centres in Sittingbourne and Sheerness (Swallows Leisure Centre and Sheppey Leisure Complex respectively). In December 2010 SCL converted from a Limited Company, governed by the Companies Act, to an Industrial Provident Society, now known as A R

egistered Society. It reports annually to the Financial Services Authority (FSA), now the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). It gained charitable status from HMRC under reference XT27088 in March 2011. The start of 2014 saw a re-structure take place, which resulted in the implementation of a much more robust and stronger multi-disciplinary management team. At the same time, the SCL Board appointed a new Chairman and Lead Officers, as well as a new Executive Officer. This ‘new-look’ Board and Management Team met with key partners at a ‘strategic planning day’. The combined Group explored the opportunities and threats for SCL, as well as identifying inherent strengths and weaknesses within the organisation. SCL considered how they could contribute more fully to the intended
outcomes of its identified partners in Sport, Leisure, Health, Education and Culture, considering both the National and Local context. As a result of this day, key objectives for SCL were identified and used to create a new Vision for the organisation’s next five years of operation, culminating in the year 2020.

Looking for fun, safe and affordable childcare this school break?
Our Ofsted‑registered Holiday Club is the perfect place for children to play, learn and stay active!

✨ And great news for parents:
You can reduce your childcare costs using government support:
💷 Tax‑Free Childcare (20% top‑up!)
If you pay through your HMRC childcare account, the government adds £2 for every £8 you pay, which can be used for approved childcare like holiday clubs. Holiday clubs are officially recognised as “approved childcare” under Tax‑Free Childcare.
💷 Universal Credit (claim back up to 85%)
If you receive Universal Credit, you may be able to claim back up to 85% of your holiday club fees. UC confirms this includes registered holiday clubs.
(You simply pay upfront, upload proof to your UC journal, and they reimburse you.)

✨ This means childcare could cost much less than you think!

Spade in the Ground 🪏⚽

Yesterday, ground was officially broken on the new 3G pitch in Staplehurst at Jubilee Field.

This marks the start of a project that will give the local area a high‑quality, all‑weather surface for training, matches, and community use throughout the year.

The new pitch will support grassroots football, local teams, schools, and residents, We’ll share progress updates as the build moves forward.

Thanks to everyone involved so far, We’re looking forward to managing the facilities once the build is complete.
