Thank you for all the kind messages received following the graffiti incident on one of the memorial picnic benches in the Byes. We are pleased to report one of our volunteers sanded the table and removed the offending word.

The Byes and Community Orchard are well used open spaces and it should be noted that this type of incident is very rate. The vast majority of residents and visitors respect these wonderful open spaces.

So the sponsor of this picnic bench has come to it today as it would have been her husbands birthday after 2 years of him passing only to find this on it. To say she’s heartbroken is an understatement. Why do you need to do this to other people’s things. On a day that’s very difficult anyway you have just upset them even more. Please can you be more respectful..

This photo was taken by one of our volunteers. What a great shot. this looks like a broad -bodied chaser (adult male). * Powder-blue abdomen typical of mature males.
* Yellow patches along the sides of the abdomen, especially visible toward the front segments.
* Dark brown thorax with a somewhat hairy appearance.
* Distinct dark patches at the bases of all four wings.
* A relatively short, broad abdomen compared with many other blue dragonflies.
