Shrivenham Village Fete is a traditional village event held every year on the August Bank Holiday Saturday.

Have you ever wondered what it's feels like to glide through the sky?

At this year's Shrivenham Village Fete, you'll have the chance to meet the team from the Vale of White Horse Gliding Centre.

Based just outside Shrivenham at Sandhill Farm Airfield, the club offers introductory flights, flying lessons and welcomes anyone interested in experiencing the unique sport of gliding.

Whether you're curious about how gliders stay airborne, thinking about learning to fly or simply fascinated by aviation, make sure you stop by for a chat with the team.

Looking for a summer holiday activity?

Why not get creative and enter this year's Shrivenham Village Fete Children's Craft Competition?

There are four categories to choose from, so there's something for everyone:

Wearable Craft – Create a colourful hat or crown
Art – Draw or paint a picture of a castle (A4 maximum)
Clay or Playdoh Model – Make a fictional creature (maximum 30cm across)
Model Using Recycled Items – Turn everyday recycling into something amazing (maximum 50 x 50cm)

There are classes for children of all ages, and every category has prizes to be won!

Closing date: Monday 24th August

Children's Fancy Dress Competition – Free to Enter!

Children are invited to come along in their best fancy dress costume and take part in this year's Fancy Dress Competition.

There's no specific theme! Dress up as whatever you like, whether you're a superhero, princess, pirate, astronaut, animal, fairy or something completely original.

Prizes to be won:
1st Prize – £20 Gift Token
2nd Prize – £15 Gift Token
3rd Prize – £10 Gift Token

Saturday 29th August
Judging and prize giving at 1.00pm in the Main Arena.

The competition is completely free to enter, so start planning your costumes!

The Acoustic Bar Stage is Waiting

There's something rather special about live acoustic music on a summer's afternoon.

Hay bale seating, a friendly crowd, the licensed bar nearby and some fantastic local musicians creating the soundtrack to the day.

We're just looking to add a few more solo performers or acoustic duos and trios to this year's line-up.

Calling Local Acoustic Musicians

Could you be part of this year's music line-up?

The Acoustic Bar Stage is back at this year's Shrivenham Village Fete, and we're looking for a few more local musicians to join us.

If you are a solo artist or perform as an acoustic duo or trio, we would love to hear from you.

We're looking for relaxed acoustic performances – think acoustic guitar, keyboard, violin, vocals and similar acoustic sets. Whether you play covers, originals or a mix of both, we'd love to hear what you do.

Performances are around 30–45 minutes (or shorter if that's what suits you best), and you'll be playing to a friendly audience with the licensed bar just a few steps away.
