Baraka Community Partnerships

Baraka Community Partnerships is a charity based in the UK and Canada with projects in Zambia & Laos.

Approximately 80% of our funding is allocated towards education in the form of school infrastrucutre (classrooms, school toilets, dormitories, educational resources etc.) and a sponsorship programme that gets kids back into school and sends children to college and university. In 2018 we started building a Learning Centre in the Central Province of Zambia which is now providing first class resource

s and teaching for thousands of children in the vicinity and beyond. The remainder of our funding supports water, sanitation and health programmes in both Zambia and Laos.

🎙️💚 Baraka on the BBC!

Our brilliant volunteer Michael was live on the BBC yesterday with his 8-year-old daughter, Wren, chatting all things Baraka and sharing stories from their recent trip to Zambia 🇿🇲

This week, we hosted over 60 girls from our Girls Club for an interactive Bootcamp focused on strengthening their confidence, focus, safety and support.
Through workshops, activities and conversations, we are imparting girls with the knowledge, confidence and resilience they need to stay engaged in school, overcome challenges and continue progressing to higher levels of education. 💪🏽📚😊

A sad day for all of us at Baraka tomorrow as we say goodbye to our Baraka Zambia Director, former colleague and friend Lorna Barker at her funeral in Brighton.
With the encouragement of Lorna's family we have set up a fundraising page to give a place at university in Zambia for a young Zambian student. Details below:

During the school holiday, the Baraka Secondary School girls have been visiting our Learning Centre for catch-up classes 📚
Here they are enjoying their science lessons while making the most of their holiday break ☺️

As the number of pupils at William Reid Primary/Secondary School continues to grow, so does the need for more learning spaces. 🏫

We’re happy to see the new classroom and teacher's office taking shape. This new addition will provide much-needed space for the growing school and help create a better learning environment for the pupils 📚✨

Our Kapiri and Maamba Safe House girls spent their final day gardening, baking, playing football and taking in a distant view of the Maamba Energy thermal power plant. 🌱🍰⚽🏭

The day ended with a beautiful farewell celebration filled with singing, poetry, laughter and heartfelt messages - while saying goodbye wasn’t easy, the bond between our two Safe Houses is stronger than ever. 🤝🏽✨

A very busy third day of the Safe House road trip as the Kapiri girls met their friends from the Maamba Safe House. The day was filled with talks on safeguarding and careers, exam preparation and of course lots of fun and games including a highly competitive trivia quiz! All taking place in our brand new Maamba Learning Centre classroom.

Second day of our Kapiri Safe House girls' road trip down to meet the girls of our Maamba Safe House. The girls made a stop at Kariba Dam, where they had the opportunity to learn about the history of one of Zambia’s major hydroelectric power plants and its important role in powering the nation. ⚡️🌊🇿🇲

The first day of our Kapiri Safe House girls' biennial road trip down to meet the girls of our Maamba Safe House. For these girls it will most likely be their first ever holiday (though an educational one) and definitely the trip of a lifetime so far!

During their free time, our Maamba Safe House girls love spending time in their garden, looking after their crops and watching them grow. Gardening not only provides fresh, nutritious food but also teaches life skills such as responsibility, patience, teamwork and sustainability. 💚🌿🙏
