Sheffield Nightline has closed.
1973 - 2023
A message to you:
After months of long discussions with staff from the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University, the sad decision was made to close Sheffield Nightline, which has been supporting students for half a decade.
From 8pm to 8am, every night during term time, we were here to listen. University can be overwhelming and it has been our privilege to support you. Thank you for trusting us. For 50 years, we were there to listen.
A message to our volunteers:
To our amazing volunteers from Hallam and Uni of, we say a heartfelt thank you. For the last 50 years, thousands of students like you have dedicated their nights to supporting, listening and caring for others.
You are part of a community of kind, generous, charitable, tough students. Your impact in the student community in Sheffield is amazing. Thank you so much. Please be proud and never forget the people you have helped.
And lastly,
We write this message with great sadness to be saying goodbye to such an important thing, and we are grateful for all of the years of support. We didn't want this to happen.
If Nightline has been there for you during your time at University, we would love to hear from you (and as always, we shall remain anonymous and confidential) After Christmas, both of the Unis have said that they will introduce a new support resource for students.
Until then, thank you, and take care.
