Looking good Scouts 15th - Darton Barnsley! 😎

Thank you to the team at HAD-Print for their constant support and knowledge!

A massive thank you to our volunteers who gave up their time tonight to help get our new sign up at 15th Barnsley, Darton Scouts.

The old sign had definitely seen better days, so it was time for a refresh. Our new sign is now proudly in place and, importantly, includes our new Squirrels section alongside Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

A big thank you as well to HAD-Print for producing the new sign. It looks great and gives the building a much needed update.

Another small improvement to our Scout Group, made possible by people giving their time to help. Thank you everyone involved.

Scouts are proud to use sign language to express themselves and include everyone in the conversation.

Today is International Day of Sign Languages, which helps raise awareness and support the human rights of deaf people around the world.

Want to take part? Pick up a ‘Thank You’ Sign Language Blanket Badge on Scouts Store – it’s a heartfelt symbol of gratitude and inclusivity within our community. https://bit.ly/4AnVq45

Three of our brilliant Explorer Scouts - Sophie, Bridget and Oliver - joined Pen*stone Scouts’ Alegre and Bella Vista Cubs this week to run engaging, interactive sessions all about the World Scout Jamboree 2027.

A huge thank you to all three for giving up their time to inspire the next generation of Scouts!

🎉 Celebrating 80 Years in Scouting 🎉

Today at Squirrel Wood Scout Campsite, 16th Barnsley - Royston Scouts gathered for their group camp and a very special celebration to honour Sam (aka Mang), who first became a Scout at just seven years old and is now marking an extraordinary 80 years in Scouting at the age of 87!

What an incredible achievement and it’s wonderful to see the group celebrate such a remarkable milestone together!

It’s Gas Safety Week! ⛺

Gas stoves and heaters are essential for camp, but checking your gear before packing it, is vital for safe adventures.

We believe no Scouts should be charged the proposed Tourist Tax for overnight stays.

The cost and admin would mean fewer young people will get to enjoy the benefits of camping and nights away.

Thank you to all those who have challenged this proposal - including volunteers who have written to their local Mayors and MPs and those MPs who have raised this in Parliament.

If you agree with this concern, please write to your local Mayor and MP and ask for:
- A national exemption for under-18s to protect youth development opportunities.
- A national exemption for charity-run hostels, campsites, activity centres, and meeting places, recognising that they’re distinct from commercial accommodation providers.
- No further administrative burdens to be placed on small-scale, volunteer-run facilities.
