For this month’s meeting we were joined by the wonderful Milly Johnson who gave us an entertaining talk about her life as a best selling novelist, joke writer and performance poet. It was a fabulous evening full of warmth and humour.

For our January meeting we enjoyed tonic tasting (with a hint of gin). We discovered how different mixers and different garnishes affected the taste of the drink. Zero alcohol gin was supplied for the drivers and those members following dry January. There was no outright winner for the mixers, however a slice of lemon was voted the favourite garnish 🍸

For this month’s meeting we were joined by Leigh, a local Stannington resident, who volunteers for the Cinnamon Trust. The Cinnamon Trust is a national charity which helps older people or the terminally ill keep their pets at home longer. Help could be by way of dog walking, help in taking the pets to the vets or providing a temporary foster home whilst their owner is in hospital. The charity also will provide permanent care if this is needed.

For this month’s meeting we were joined by Amanda Crossland to hear all about her Ukulele Adventures. We then took part in a Ukulele taster session and formed our own band. Special kudos goes to those ladies that played the ukulele and kazoo at the same time. You are multi- instrumentalists! 🎵🎶 What a fun evening!

Our craft group recently delivered approximately 130 hand crocheted forget-me-nots to St Luke’s Hospice in support of their appeal to give a flower to the families and friends of patients as a momento of their loved one’s time spent at St Luke’s 🌸. Well done ladies!
