Stannington WI, Sheffield We are a welcoming, friendly group of over 60 members. We also hold social events, craft club and book clubs.

We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 19:30 (doors open from 19:00) at Christ Church Stannington - Church Hall.

We had a visit from Derrick who was trained as a seizure support dog but also as a support dog who can pick thing up , help with taking clothes off etc.

We had a fabulous presentation last night bu Joshua. Josh spoke about reconnecting and rewilding our gardens and local places. Josh is knowledgable on the plants to plant for medicinal properties and those plants we can forage and eat. Josh also works for Zest at a garden gathering every Wednesday 10.30 -12.30 open to all. He is also a landscape gardener who specialises in bringing wildlife back into our gardens.
We are hoping to have Josh back but will also be looking at a guided foraging walk in the future.

Tonight we had a great presentation by Josh on Reconnecting and Rewilding. Josh delivered a very interesting talk and included information on some of the plants to grow in your garden that you can eat or act as medicine.
Josh works around the city rewilding and adding flowers and other plants around the local area. He runs a garden gathering at Zest which takes place every Wednesday 10.30 -12.30.. this is a safe, inclusive space for gardening and crafting.
Josh is also a landscape gardener who helps you to bring wildlife back to your gardens.

This months meeting we will be learning about foraging.
Also Just to let you know/ remind you that at our August meeting we will be having a tombola to raise funds for us and our charity. Please can you bring donations for the tombola to our July meeting to give us time to organise everything. Many thanks x

Open Up Artist Studios
140 artists in over 90 venues are opening up their studios for visitors. Including Sarah Anonymouse Creatives who has delivered a session for the WI and will return in January.
There are also other artists in and around S6 including Philip Anderson another Stannington resident.

For our January meeting we enjoyed tonic tasting (with a hint of gin). We discovered how different mixers and different garnishes affected the taste of the drink. Zero alcohol gin was supplied for the drivers and those members following dry January. There was no outright winner for the mixers, however a slice of lemon was voted the favourite garnish 🍸
