UPDATE: It sadly appears that the computer to be used to support internet connections to the Reflectors has been failing since set up a couple of weeks ago. The community depends very much on local support and resources, but Ernie G4LUE along with Lee M0YBG remain steadfast in working hard to set up another computer in the coming weeks. GB7SC remains on as a standalone repeater for you to enjoy... Bear with us please...

Great news for Sheffield's DSTAR community. The repeater is currently being set up to enable connections to Reflectors, and will generally be always connected to REF011 based on the Yorkshire Network. Users can soon disconnect and go wherever they wish on their DSTAR journey. Who are you going to talk to today?

Excellent news to report that GB7SC will be back on air with new equipment, in the same S2 location by the end of October. It will also have a server connected to enable users to connect to DSTAR reflectors and DSTAR contacts around the world. It will be programmed to automatically connect to REF001c every morning at 9am, but of course you can unlink it with the correct command and use the repeater to connect to any reflector you wish. Great news eh..!!

I regret to announce that the GB7SC repeater has been sold to raise funds for repairs of other repeaters in the Yorkshire region. The callsign for this will therefore go elsewhere. I (G5YL) feel it is a shame this repeater didn't get a chance with access to reflectors as more access might have been achieved, however, there are ample underused repeaters in the Sheffield area that can and should be used, including GB3AB, GB7SF, GB3PF, GB3SH, GB7SR, GB3US. Don't forget we also have local Links including G4CUI, MB7ITH and probably several more I forget to mention....

GB7SC will be temporarily switched off for an unforeseen period of time as per request of the Repeater Keeper Ernie G4LUE. This is due to a fault with another community DSTAR repeater which will need to be sent off for repair. My apologies for the inconvenience. Let's hope it wont be too long, and that comes back with internet connectivity for the reflectors... Now wouldn't that be amazing?

Great to work Keiran M6AYW who is the first amateur to QSO on GB7SC and with Krystyna G5YL. Most interesting is that Keiran was working his station from Whiston in the Rotherham area which is outside of the map area, but is line of sight to the repeater. Please give a call in and let us know where you are calling from so we have an idea if the repeater is reaching you and your area, or certainly to test if you can get in to it.
