Join us this Sunday, 12th Jan, from 2-4pm at Noughtcross Haus for our first Home Ed Circle. This is a monthly gathering to share stories, ask questions and find support while stepping outside the boundaries of mainstream schooling.

Whether you are new to home ed, still a few years away or a seasoned educator, there is a place for you in our circle.

For our opening circle, our founder and fellow home educator, Nadine, will share her journey into home education and talk about her trials and triumphs during four years as an education facilitator to her two daughters.

There will be tea, coffee and cake available for a small donation to the learning community.

We hope to see you there!

Our final Open House is tomorrow and we’re kicking off our crowdfunder too. Join us for tea, lemonade & cake. Browse the space or make some art with us. At 2pm Helen from will join us for a story for the young (and young at heart) ones and an activity. Bring cash if you can, but don’t worry if you can’t!

We look forward to seeing you!

We’ve nearly done it! On the first Tuesday in September 2024 Noughtcross Haus will open its doors for the first time to our new learning community. 10 children and their families have pledged their support for our first year, but we need a little more help.

Join us this Sunday to kickstart our crowdfunder campaign!

One final time this summer we throw the doors wide open. Come and have a look at what the community’s learning space will look like, eat some cake, make some art with us and help us change the landscape of Sheffield’s educational offerings.

Noughtcross Haus introduces Nadine, co-founder of Noughtcross Haus CIC.

Hello, I'm Nadine. At the time I'm writing this introduction I'm a 40-something home maker and education faciliator to my two daughters, 7 and 2, with a strong love for tea and words. My roots are German but my heart has settled amongst the green rolling hills of England’s Peaks. Being a bilingual family was the igniting spark to my growing passion for an education that looks different from the current mainstream, but is not the only element that keeps the fire burning. I hold a degree in sport science with a focus on media, have worked in PR for many years before switching to play worker, then TA and later HLTA in a primary school here in Sheffield. But really I'm just a profoundly curious and questioning individual, that has come to understand that while my previous career path might seem disjointed, all these interludes have two things in common: understanding and communication. Nurturing my own knowledge about these two, from the science behind it to real life application has led me to this current belief: Nothing is straight forward with either topic, but they are the foundation of all of us and therefore the bearing pillars of a wholesome education.

Noughtcross Haus introduces Sarah (left), co-founder of Noughtcross Haus.

Hi, my name is Sarah. I am bilingual, with a German and French heritage, and have now lived in England longer than I have in either France or Germany. Three years ago, my husband and our two children (4 and 7 years old) made the move to Sheffield, seeking a more balanced life, close to the Peak District.
I originally trained as a Theatre Designer and after working in the costume department for 10 years and wanting a family, I retrained as a Montessori educator. Since then, I have also trained as a Forest school Leader and am continuously curious about different educational approaches from across the world. When my son started Reception, I soon realised that a traditional education was not the best route I wished for either of my children. I’m hoping that with Noughtcross Haus we can give them and other children, the opportunity to have a real say in their learning, based on their interest and strengths and natural curiosity, without comparison to one another. And with plenty of opportunity to be outside and physical and connected to nature. I believe that we continuously learn if we allow ourselves to be curious and open to new ideas and I am very excited to go on this journey with them and everyone else who will be part of this beautiful community.
