We help people to overcome social challenges, building a digitally included society and supporting people to grow their essential skills. We collaborate with 5,000 community partners - the Online Centres Network - and others, to help the people and communities with the greatest need.

The impact of digital exclusion is real. At Forge Community Hub in Barnsley, we met Leanne, whose daughter relies on a constant mobile connection for her life-saving insulin pump. For families like hers, digital connectivity isn't convenience – it's life or death...

By embedding digital inclusion into local authorities’ health, housing, and skills services, we can create a resilient safety net for the nation’s most vulnerable individuals.

You can read Leanne's full story and discover our evidence-based roadmap designed to help give local authorities the tools they need to bake in, not bolt on digital inclusion into their core services at https://www.goodthingsfoundation.org/discover/stories-and-case-studies/stories-and-case-studies-2026/leannes-story-digital-connectivity-life-or-death

How can we ensure every local authority has the tools to prioritise and embed digital inclusion? 🏛️ 📱

Connectivity remains a significant challenge in rural communities, where geography often dictates access to essential services. Julie Hawker, MBE highlights that joining forces is the only way to remove the limitations of what local authorities can achieve.

Our new evidence-based roadmap aims to help local authorities build a sustainable, inclusive digital approach. Is your Council making sure all their residents can participate in our digital society?

Digital inclusion isn't just a "nice-to-have" anymore, it’s a life-saving necessity. From accessing critical healthcare to securing housing and gaining new skills, being online is the foundation of modern community support.

Following successful pilots with Barnsley Council, Cornwall Council, and Middlesbrough Council, we are releasing the evidence-based roadmap every local authority needs to move digital inclusion from a standalone project to a core, sustainable service.

Our new national toolkit for Local Authorities, funded by the UK Government's Department for Science, Technology, and Innovation's 'Digital Inclusion Innovation Fund' includes:

A "What Works" Report: Proven strategies and key findings from our multi-sector collaborations💡

Digital Inclusion Partnership Pathway: A free, practical framework to help you and your partners (across health, housing, and skills) assess and improve local digital support🛣️

It’s ! This year's theme is 'Many Ways to Learn', which feels like the perfect opportunity to shout about our Google.org AI project.

Back in March, we announced that we were awarded a £1.1 million grant from Google.org to launch a major new programme. Since then, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to help workers across the UK learn essential AI skills.

With technology evolving, everyday roles like administrative support, customer service, and data entry are changing. We believe learning at work should be accessible to everyone so that no one gets left behind as the digital world moves forward.

Through 30 brilliant partners in our National Digital Inclusion Network, we’re taking foundational AI training straight into the heart of local communities, helping people build the confidence they need to thrive.

According to our research, food costs are 50% higher without internet access.

Those that are digitally excluded are facing more challenges than just being offline, no data and no device means it’s harder to shop around and find discounts.

Lost without a phone? Imagine you don't have one.

🗺️ Whether it’s finding a job interview, navigating to a GP appointment, or just getting around town — so much of daily life relies on having a phone with maps and data. But for many, digital exclusion means that even something as simple as directions is out of reach. Everyone deserves the tools to take part in modern life — and that starts with digital access.

Let’s bust some myths! 💥
Yes, millions of people in the UK are still digitally excluded - and it’s a big deal.

Through the National Digital Inclusion Network, we work with amazing local community organisations to change that.

Together, they deliver life-changing support through:
