Update from Kent Police on Catapult Crime. Thanks to residents reporting incidents just this week we have seen three removed from a young person with protects their community and themselves. That wouldn't of happened without someone reporting that while it was happening.

🚨 Community Message: Rise in Catapult-Related Incidents & Crime Prevention Advice 🚨
We are seeing an increase in reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage involving the use of catapults across the local area. These incidents can cause serious harm to people, pets, and property, and in some cases have resulted in injuries.
We understand that this behaviour causes concern within the community, and we want to reassure you that we are taking these reports seriously and will take appropriate action where offences are identified.
👀 What to Look Out For
Please remain vigilant and report:
• Individuals carrying or using catapults in public spaces
• Groups targeting wildlife, vehicles, homes, or street lighting
• Any behaviour that appears threatening or unsafe

You can help us by reporting any information:
• In an emergency (crime in progress or immediate danger): Call 999
• Non-emergency: Call 101 or report online via Kent Police website
• Crimestoppers (anonymous): 0800 555 111

If possible, please provide:
• Descriptions of individuals involved
• Locations, dates, and times
• Any CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage or images taken.
Your information helps us build intelligence and take action.

We recognise that those involved may be young people. Where appropriate, we will work with partners such as schools, youth services, and safeguarding teams to address behaviour and prevent escalation.
If you are a parent or guardian:
• Please be aware of what your children are doing and where they are going
• Speak to them about the dangers and legal consequences of using catapults
• Encourage respectful and safe behaviour in the community

Operation Lakeshot is a multi-agency response to a disturbing crime involving waterfowl and wildlife being killed or injured with powerful catapults. Swans, geese, pigeons and gulls are regularly being targeted by young offenders with easily obtainable catapults.
