Let’s help in getting our lovely beach summer ready 💙
BEACH CLEAN 7-8 MAY
On Thursday 7 May and Friday the 8 of May starting at 10am on both days, it is the Parish Council's intention to do its annual tidy up of the Shaldon Beach. On Thursday we will start by the Clipper Quay and would ask for volunteers please as we will need as much help as possible to move all 76 rowing dinghies throughout the day. This will enable the contractor to use his machinery to make Shaldon Beach, from the Quay to Shaldon House an attractive sandy beach for the summer. This involves scooping up the flotsam first followed by the excess sand around all those dinghies to use the following day in helping to restore the beach below the sailing club area.
Please could all boat owners check their dinghies and dig them out, if applicable, from the sand around them and to unlock them from any securing ropes/chains so that boats can be moved easily. Alternatively, as a boat owner if you are available to volunteer to help move your dinghy on the day the Council would really appreciate it.
So if you would like to volunteer please, as help is needed, the Council would be very grateful, If you could come to the Ferry Shelter both days at 9.45am for the safety briefing. Even help for just half a day would be most welcome. sturdy footwear & work gloves and it would help to bring a spade and/ or a rake too. Some volunteers will also be required to marshall the area, as it will be cordoned off, to ensure that no unauthorised access occurs.
Refreshments will be provided on both days.
Hope to see you there!
