M49 J1 National Highways update
National Highways has told the Parish Council that recent inspections have identified defects at the junction. Independent engineers have advised that the junction cannot be opened to traffic at this time, including on a restricted or partial basis, because of safety concerns and the risk of further damage.
National Highways has said it is working with its supplier to agree a remedy and programme for the required works. At this stage, the exact solution and timescale are not yet known. National Highways has indicated that a fuller update is expected later this year, when it more will be known about what work is required, who will carry it out, and how long it might take.
See the link below to the Parish Council website for more details on the Parish Council's response and to see the National Highways press release.
